I'm gonna go Greddy Type S because you can do the single spring mod and have no drivability issues and a nice sound

Hey Eggy,

How'd you manage to get that Evo into Canada?

Anyways I still would suggest the APS or Turbosmart. Both to me sound the same, I ended up going to an APS. Both are QUIET compared to the Greddy. Yes, I miss the greddy, I loved the greddy sound... but it still works like crap on the Evo no matter how I tune it.

The single spring mod is just purely garbage, and to add to it.. it will make "too" much sound. It's just too loose! Even with the single spring and the adjustment screw tightened, it does not like to hold more than 17psi of boost when pressure testing. Needless to say, that was part of the reason of the switch.

The regular adjustment is not bad, but part throttle gives issues with studdering and compressor surge.

Bret, If you're around the Boston area and want to hear the APS PM me and I'll take you for a ride. It is really quiet in my opinion. I'm not sure.. did I meet you at the track a few months back? I have the RR Evo.

Hey bro. I'm a bit drunk right now and I hope I answer your questions properly..

First off: I actually bought my Evo in Mass. I just drive it around in Toronto as a student studying in Canada for the year

Second: Is it really a lost cause trying to use a Greddy Type S? People seem to feel with the right adjustments it wont' cause any issues.

That's totally cool.. a Canadian Student!

Well, it's each person's own preference... the greddy can be used fine for higher boost applications etc, and it can be used with the single spring. To me, seeing as the stock boost is 21psi... with the single spring mod and having it open early just means I'm shooting myself in the foot. Ie if the car is "stock" at 276hp, and I'm losing 5psi, then I'm chopping myself down to the low 200ish hp. Bad news for me!

Also having it with a loose spring and hearing that BOV go off so often is annoying to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of the BOV when it is used "properly", but I couldn't deal with the partial throttle issues on my Daily driver.
