There are a few threads on here about the 15k service, but there are always 2 popular choices, and it's time to narrow down to one.

1. Follow the manual - Change oil, air filter, tranny fluid, transfercase fluids, tire rotation, inspect brakes, etc.

2. Follow stealership - The factory manual that service uses, advises that all that is needed is a simple oil change and air filter change if neccesary.

I bring this up because yesterday when i went to my stealership for my 15k service, the service manager had no idea what i was talking about and said all that is required is an oil change (they continued to show me the factory manual that was Evolution specific, and i verified that this was correct); odviously the manual provided to owners says otherwise.

Which is the best way to go at 15k?

I did option #2. I didn't change the Tranny/TC/Diff fluids until 30k.

Depends on how you run your car. If you are beating the living hell out of it, I would suggest changing the fluids at 15k, otherwise you should be good till 30k.

I dont drive the daylights off my car...I granny drive, and when I changed out ALL the fluids at 15K, and 30K miles there was lots of nasty stuff in the oil...better safe than sorry.
And saad is right, cost WAAAAYYY less to do it yourself. Stealership charges 89bucks to change the tranny fluid plus 60 for the front or rear. (at least thats what I remember)

Hey, KOEVO,
where do you take your car for service/warranty work in seattle area?
Dealership that I been to told me that (walker's) anything other than catback and air filter will void powertrain warranty. Any dealership that's mod friendly that I can take my car for warranty work if needed?
thanks.

ps, your pm box is full.

Oh, hey thanks a lot man, i didn't know it was full.

That is weird that Walkers told you that, because they are super cool with me and have warranty'd things for me in the past (they also know i track my car, and they know the extent of my modifications). But Mountain Mitsubishi will do almost anything. I think they are in Tacoma, but don't hold me to that.

Update: oil change and air filter is regular 15k miles service; full service of drivetrain fluids etc is for "extreme conditions while driving." <-----(That's us)

I would go with option #1. I've read too many posts about shavings in the transfer case and tranny when the car was still fairly new. It's better to be safe than sorry.

If you track your car, definately number 1. I did just to be safe.
