Engine RPMS Acting UP ???

Well i have a few of my own ideas as to whats causing my evo's rpms to climb super slow. After shifting or leaving clutch in RPM's seem to fall down alot slower than normal. Im thinking i need a new clutch for sure cause i have the OEM in with 25,000 miles .. Also a few weeks back i was lauching my car off the 5,500 rev limiter and forgot to put the car back into tarmac mode(i know what a dumb ***) and left it in gravel mode any chance i caused some damage to the rear diff or transfer case ???

ACD modes do not affect the launch, so that is irrelevant. There isn't a 5500 launch limiter unless your tune from AMS set it there. All 05/06s have an RPM rev-hang after clutch in from high rpm, but I can't imagine what would make the revs CLIMB slowly. The clutch may be slipping, but you didn't give any descriptions that match a slipping clutch.

Climbing slow how/when? Are you saying you're accelerating very slowly? I wouldn't refer to that as rpms climbing so slowly...I would refer to that as my CAR being slow as *****. Is that what you're trying to say?

No , what i mean is that when i floor the gas in 1st or 2nd gear the car doesnt put you back in your seat anymore like it used to . It feels like its having a struggle to accelerate . I see the rpm needle slowly climbing as where before it would climb so fast its hard to read lol ..Now i did just put a AMS FMIC on the car a few weeks ago ?? And dont blame AMS please the intercooler didnt cause any lag in spool -up . Thanks for your help . And on another note the rpm hang mode , the car never used to rev down slowly its like my throttle is sticking for 5-6 sec or so . I never had this issue before how come its doing it now ?

Um, then you ARE saying the car is slow. I'm not sure why you'd focus on your rpms climbing slowly. Don't you realize that means the car is not accelerating? You made it sound like you had some weird rpm problem. No, your car is not running well and is very slow. Seems obvious, no?

The AMS FMIC is a great piece, but that doesn't mean it didn't cause your problems. When people install things like that where the IC pipes get disconnected and reconnected, that is the most likely time to develop a boost leak. In your case, you could have a really big one that is causing terrible spool/acceleration. However, you said the FMIC didn't cause any lag in spool right after you installed it? That's strange, because it's a larger FMIC, which means it takes more time to fill up. Any larger FMIC should negatively affect spool at least a little. Are you also saying that after installing the FMIC, you still had the same acceleration and performance as before? If so, then when did this new phenomenon begin occurring with the slow acceleration? Something had to recently change...

Was just under my hood and i think i found my problem . it seems like my UICP wich is stock somehow found its way onto my coolant fan , I can see the outer mesh of the hose all chopped up and the fan blades look like they got damaged on the ends BOOST LEAK ??

Yes i agree my car is running slow , i guess the rpms are irrelevant your right , i just dont know why the car is running like a P.O.S

After the install of the FMIC the car felt great and toward redline it only drops about 1 psi which before i dropped 3-4 i think , something had to recently change would a boost leak cause the rpms to come down slow maybe ?

No, the RPMs coming down slowly shouldn't be relevant to the loss of power. Like I mentioned, we have a built-in rev hang in 05/06s that was put there for emissions purposes. It's normal, unless you're experiencing something even more drastic than that.

The FMIC would not cause boost to taper less, though, and to really verify your boost profile, you have to log it with a MAP sensor. So, the FMIC didn't change performance except in the positive, yet at some point after that install, it started acting up? YOu can't remember when or why? If the fan has cut up your UICP hose, then that would be an obvious reason, but it would have to have cut through the hose itself, not just the outer mesh.

You should check that hose, then do a boost leak test.

i appreaciate your help , I have been experiencing something far more drastic then normal as far as the RPMs coming down slowly , they have never done this before . And after the FMIC it did change my performace in the positive a little more my butt dyno sure felt it lol ... But yes at some point it started to become slow , very slow , i dont know how or why . Guess i should just do a boost leak check

Ok i found my problem im sure . One of my intercooler hoses got tore up by the radiator fan and it made a hole in the hose about the diameter of a pencil , not too big but im sure thats why my car is lagging ! Another question is that my boost guage is still reading 21 or so , and my boost leak only makes my turbo work harder to maintain the 21 psi right ? Thats why im not seeing my boost guage drop from the boost leak ??

Exactly. Many times people say, "I have no leak, because I checked my hoses, and my boost gauge still reads the same." Well, duh, that doesn't mean there's no leaks, because the turbo just works way harder to maintain the same boost level (e.g. 21psi).

If you have a hole in your UICP, that is KILLING your performance. As soon as you patch that up or replace it, you'll be hauling *** again.

Thanks for helping me kinda find my problem , now all i have to decide is buschur or AMS for my new UICP
