Garbage hardware
So I put most of the car together since my RnR kit will be here thurs. everything was ok until I decided to fix the leak on my oil pan. When the car had 2k miles it, the dealer fixed a 'oil pump gasket' that went bad. well it leaked again. It was near the tranny and the bolt wasn't even tightened. Tookthe pan off and it was gross. silicone all over the bed plate. 2 bolts broken that the dealer stuffed in the holes with silicone. then the good stuff. the oil pickup had silicone in the pickup hole.
So I cleaned everything and put new silicone. a bolt broke with barely hand tightened. EZ out to the rescue. all went well but one bolt doesn't feel like it is tighening.
nonetheless I have broke more bolts on this car and spent so much on new hardware. and the fact the dealer is garbage makes me want to whine more
oh well.

If they F'd it up the first time, why would I take it back to the dealer for them to "fix it".
Sorry, I was on my PDA earlier while the kids were swimming...So now I can type better. Basically the day was garbage. I secured the valve cover and tightened the timing belt. Got the cam position sensor sealed and I was looking at things. The car has 9K miles on it now. Originally, when I took it in, it had 2K miles on it and I dealt with the new found leak for about 5K miles as it showed up a little later.
I pulled off the oil pan and cleaned the mating surfaces. First with a blade and then with mineral spirits. The crap grey silicone, who knows if it was high temp or what was gone. Now some 700 degree Ultra copper was going on the pan. It went well until right around the oil filter. There is a stupid zip tie from a a sensor that got under the pan. I had to take the pan OFF AGAIN and clean everything again.
I hand tightened, when I say hand tightened, it was with a 1/4" drive and 10mm socket...so there was NO leverage. Boom...almost all the way done, I snap a bolt. I t ake the pan off AGAIN and clean everything. Extracted the broken bolt and began the process yet again. Good to go this time except ONE BOLT doesn't want to even feel snug. I will let everything dry and this weekend come back to that bolt. Maybe get a couple mm longer to grab something in there. I don't know.
I also noticed when I was doing my cam last week that the lower timing belt cover was cracked and a chunk missing. First time I ever messed with the timing belt cover so I am ASSuming it was the dealer. As luck would have it, the dealer didn't put TWO bolts in the upper cover and that was apparently flapping around for some time.
I am fairly sure I know waht happened. The guy got on to me because I had a CAT BACK!!! That was all I had on the car at the time of the leak. I told him to bite me as it had NOTHING to do with an oil leak. Then I went to the manager and told him I just spent $36K for a dang car and they are going to hassle me over a cat back system?! So they took the car. For an "oil pump seal" which I don't think it was ANYTHING like that, they had my car for 2 weeks. I called persistently the last couple of days and I am sure that they scrambled to get it together. Hence the reason the garbage oil pan install. Silicone on the bed plate...On the flywheel, on various other pieces there ....the worst was the silicone blocking the oil pickup! Good stuff!
Anyway, MIAMI LAKES/POTAMKIN Mitsubishi, if you are reading this, this is why I didn't send in your precious JD Power survey. First you wanted $41K out the door for an 06 MR...then you muff up a simple oil pan install. Good stuff!
The rest of my ran was with the hardware! I have snapped so many bolts on this car with just my teeny 1/4" drive ratchet just to get things SNUG...that it is pathetic. I am always getting more hardware and just decided to get all grade 8 or higher from a local hardware store. Oh well.

BTW... How much miles you have on her. Im just saying that if They screwed it up they should be responsible for taking care of the problem. When I would go in for warranty work I never had a problem, and my car was MODDED! There can also be a defect some where and you dont know about it.

Thanks bro...If there is an unknown problem...I would rather the engine fall out and my car burst into flames. I am sooo picky and they only reason I took it to the dealer the first time is because I damned near just bought the car. I haven't taken a car to the dealer in years....My wife's is the only one that goes to the dealer because she thinks I will try to make her Expedition "fast" if I try to fix.
I will look up Coconut Creek Mitsu...I have heard some good things from the guys up there in the Dodge world so we will see... Hopefully I will just be fine after the kit gets on and I won't have to worry about too many issues.

Hey Kr1s did you used to own an SRT? If you did, did you happen to work for AGP? I remember seeing your avatar over there (on srtforums), which I haven't really seen anywhere else, so I'm just taking a guess.

Yeah bro. I did. (EDIT: Own an SRT-4) My screen name was "mybadasssrt4" I didn't work for AGP but I have helped them out. I was an "authorized installer" for them and installed a handful of their kits here in South Florida and Ben and the folks over there took really good care of me!
And timzcat! I just threw a shoe at you!
I am done whining for a while though! For real! There! No more....until I get back from work today!
