Im sorry to see that happen to some one. But if it is totaled and you decide to sell some stuff off of it, hit me up. You could make pretty good cash out of the parts I would like.

Front air bag sensors will trigger the air bag ECU to the deploy if it see's a sudden jolt backwards after going forward or on a stationary position.

In his case he was going forward and got hit on the rear quarter sideways and moved the car backwards.

sorry to hear about it bro!

Personally I wouldn't want it back just because the frame looks in really bad shape and once you mess with the frame forget about having your perfect car specially when resaling the car they will look how much damage was done and how much it took to fix it depending on the year and make of the car and it will come back and hunt you.

Sorry to say this to you but you have to put the nail in the coffin and let it go R.I.P. and then you can get an EVO IX

Well dude I know I totalled my 98 GSR ( fully built with turbo) and my insurance rates jumped from 195 a month (full coverage) to 275 a month for the evo....I say it may be totalled as your frame is clearly bent. Also with the air bags deploying too add to it being a total loss!

you can always get a new car but...here in cali...its illegal to be on the phone and drive no matter what...right away or not, cell phone equals a ticket...but then again there not really strict but hey i would mention this to my insurance though before you start blaming yourself

I had my 03 totalled last summer, the car had 35k on it and I told them I had 10k worth of parts, of which I did not have reciepts for and they (statefarm) gave me $35910. for my 03 with 35k evo 8.

Glad to hear that everyone is OK.

Considering recent age & low mileage, doubt it'll be totalled, but Mich insurance companies can be iffy when the airbags have fired.
(seen instances when they've totalled cars that are repairable, then other times repair something that should've been totalled )

Unfortunately, resale value will suffer because of the airbag deployment that'll show on the car's history...
