It'll most likely be deemed an economic total loss by your insurer. You should be happy with that. You'll get a settlement for fair market value. You'll be able to payoff on the lender and should have some money left over for another down payment. The VIII is a nice car but the IX does everything the same or better.

Plus you don't want to be driving around a car that had $15k+ in collision repair. It's called diminished value. Even if you have the repair work done and the car is 100% the same as stock that collision repair work will follow the car around for ever. Think about it. If in 2 or 3 years somebody is in the market for an '05 Evo VIII and you're selling for $18k another guy is selling for $20k which one would you buy...the one with the clean history or the one that basically had $15k+ in reconstructive *** surgery?

an accident is an accident. i can't believe this guy^.

i'm sorry to hear that. the same exact thing happened to me too, but the guy was the one that made the left and i was going straight. i was going 45 and the guy tried to speed out of his left opposite direction turn. both the cars were totalled, but i, luckily was in the courtesy vehicle that mitsubishi lended me, since my evo was getting serviced, nor him didn't get hurt either. i had a couple bruises and a laceration on my shoulder/chest from the seatbelt and my arm was kinda funky (sprained feeling). the next day though, my whole body was sore.

we both gave the same story so both our insurances are investigating it. hope it turns out the best for me as it will for you.

i hope this doesn't deter you from getting another evo. keep your head up!

COme on now bro! I am sure you are not 100% aware 100% of the time, yes, this was unfortunate, but it could have been you or me also. I bet the other ran the light to have admnistered that much impact, after just getting the green light. Take it easy. He is NOT the reason for the rate hikes, the 17 year olds are, who do STREET RACING, kill themselves and innocent bystanders!!

This crash incident is almost the same as mine. Except my airbags did not deploy. I too came here on evom and made a thread with pics asking if it would be the same after repairs. My evo is black too. Mine drives the same as it did before. The paint is a little off. But other than that, Its better than ever. I think your evo has more damage than mine did though. Im 80% sure yours is totaled.

Like everyone said, glad you are all OK. Regarding the who's fault it was, even though if she was on a cell phone, it is still your fault. Upon making a left turn in an intersection, you have to yield and may only make the turn when it is safe to do so.

The OP said he did not look, not looking is like driving with your eyes closed. It's not an accident, it's stupidity which could have been avoided.

This post is an open invitation for karma to come visit you, kick in your teeth, and then **** down your throat. Just remember that when you're wondering why something bad just happened to you.

And just like you can keep your mouth closed instead of open, your selfish, unnecessary comments could have been avoided.
