You said you have owned two, what are your times? You never stated your times, but others.

actually no im 22, and i wasnt saying you need an evo to post, all i was saying is you of all ppl shouldnt rip on it when you drive a freakin lancer es. what happened to that amazing mustang that does 11's.. do you still have it? ( im not being sarcastic)
No more name calling you b@$t@rd'$!!
That said, as an EVO owner I have to say that I really like the new 03 cobra. I had a choice of three cars when I was shopping for cars. The Sti was one possibility but not readily available, and the Cobra was the other contender.
The Cobra really appealed to my musclecar past, but I really wanted an AWD car that could be fitted with snows for inclement weather. Since I already own a Syclone that fills my straight line acceleration needs, I decided to go for the road racer action with the EVO. BTW- This isn't a slap at the Cobra as I have owned many Fords in the past.
Anyway, I was thinking what would really be interesting would be to take a new Cobra, a new EVO, and a new Sti. All with similar miles on the odo, and all stock. Each car/driver gets to invest $2,000 in mods of choice, with the understanding that the cars have to remain street legal(ie no slicks, or open exhaust). All must run the same high octane pump gas.
Start out with a baseline dyno, then re-dyno after the mods are installed. Once the cars are modded, perform a series of performance tests to determine how these cars shake out. I really wonder what the results would be.
I know the Mustangs can be easily modded for sure, the EVO's can also be easily/cheaply modded, and I am sure the Sti will be similarly responsive to mods.
Although I doubt this kind of "shootout" will ever happen in a controlled head-to-head-to-head test fashion, it really represents what most of these cars will be like on the street. Very few will remain stock, and most people will be willing to spend a couple of G's on mods for more power.
People who drive performance cars all have egos of some sort, and healthy comp is what makes it challenging. The ability to get the edge and be over-the-top is truly what makes owning a fast car fun.
See you out there!

I personally have both, and the Cobra is way faster once moving, but I think the Evo would actually win in a street race for ¼ mile or less.
On the street you don't get the benefit of a burnout, lowered tire pressure, etc..... plus the road is not nearly as sticky as the track. I cannot put my foot down in the cobra until well into 1st, almost 2nd gear depending on the road. I would think by then the evo is a good bit down the road.
at the end of the ¼ the cobra is going 110-115mph while the evo is going 100-105....but street races don't last that long and are not under perfect launching circumstances.
Just my opinion.

Yeah seriously....what are the chances you're going to see an evo and a cobra (both pretty rare still) pull up at the same intersection, both in the front of the lane and both wanting to race. Everytime I've seen a Cobra (which in only a couple times), it's an older guy driving 10MPH under the speed limit.
It's the same nonsense with the Evo vs. STi......what are the chances you're going to be in the same situation with and Evo vs and STi? Both at the same intersection, front of the lane, wanting to drag.
Just get the car you love the most and enjoy it.

But you also didn't say anything good about the Evo in this thread, UFO.
If the Cobra is such a superior car, than why are you getting an Evo?

I think I already answered the question as to why I was getting an Evo - I need a 4 door car. Next year, assuming my job holds, I will also own a Cobra and use it for a weekend 1/4 mile toy.
Is reading comprehension not a prerequisite in schools anymore?
Are manners not taught at home anymore?
have fun in the cobra and evo and ferrari and jet plane and speed boat and llama you are going to buy next year for weekend fun

On this overwhelminly infantile note, I will be closing this thread.
UFO, members who reflect the arrogant attitude you conveyed in the thread above, usually don't keep their memberships to this site for too long.
