I'm saying the opposite. This device pulls a specified amount of airflow through the unit, the tells you the pressure drop (ie. restriction). The higher the pressure drop, the less efficient the unit. Lower is better here, so the Buschur unit positively skunked the stock airbox.
Jack: I was thinking the same thing. But it's not really possible to 'read' the MAF during this test, right? I mean, we'd essentially need to set up a factory ECU to get a real reading, right? I'm not clear in how the MAF is translated into Hz. If there's something easy we could do for you (like measure a voltage output while doing the test, PM me.
As a side note, did you notice that EvoScan 0.9 now has AirFlow Volume listed? I don't recall seeing this discussed anywhere here or on OpenECU.org, so I was surprised to see it surface in the new release. I'm not sure what the units are yet.

Now all you need to do is get rid of the hot air.
When you use a good intake like buschurs, etc. the problem you then encounter is the injestation of hot air from the engine compatment. I fabricated a very inexspencive airbox/wall & floor using the stock airbox scoop to flow cool outside air, while blocking all the hot engine air.

Any links to the grill intake? The two piece box made a diff of 92 on the filter side VS. 132 on the engine side while the fan is on and 120 when off. @ WOT that thing flows a lot of cool air, not to metion I added a drier duct from the bottom, directing air from the front grill area.

I couldn't sleep until I looked...and I found it! Found my stock air filter. I think I changed over to the Buschur at 25,000.

So I had a cup of coffee now, and can we draw a conclusion with this "expirement" as:
Stock airbox with K&N drop in filter, is SUPERIOR to cone intakes? In both driveability and HP? And stock-box has LESS airflow restriction then the cone intakes?

There are two things at work here..
The cone filter outflows the stock airbox, there has never been any question regarding that, but most who have recommended sticking with the stock airbox, have noted that in increasing the airflow, you indirectly are altering the MAF readings in the ECU, and depending on the filter, the readings can become inconsistent and difficult to tune.. Generally the meter reads leaner due to the lower restriction at low RPM (because the airflow number is lower with the lower velocity passing through it) and it then runs richer at higher RPM due to the higher number due to the greater airflow through it.
Only here's the problem, those points at which this anomoly happens "Floats" with throttle position and boost level, so its difficult to tune.
On a cone filter alone, its not that bad, but with an aftermarket intake pipe, its a little bit more difficult.
Out of all of the aftermarket filters, the Buschur has given me the least problems and was the easiest and most consistent to tune, Obviously the design and the base have an impact on it. Other filters have turbulence which seems to make it even worse.
I have used the Buschur filter and intake pipe almost since I've had my car, I only recently removed it with my turbo upgrade. I had very few problems with it after I got the tune dialed in. But the higher airflow itself didn't add much power, the tuning for it helped.
Ultimately the conclusion I came to is the stock Airbox was adequate for the stock turbo and most aftermarket mods, It allowed tuning to be more consistent and offered no degraded performance otherwise at boost levels to around 22-23psi.
There is more to this than just the filter outflowing the airbox.. Way more.. I have seen some high-flowing reputable intake/filter kits actually do more harm then good, even though they outflowed stock and other aftermarket pipes.
I would recommend against making it a first mod, but its something you might want to do after you get cams and are running higher boost consistently.

^^^ I was just about ready to bring up this point. My car is running an AMS 3071R turbo kit and I am utilizing the stock air box. When the car had a full intake pip with cone filter it idled worse and was much harder to tune with, due to the turbulant air. If you are running speed density then it's no problem. Becomes more troublesome when you keep the stock MAF.
