Plugging a EGT probe

If for some odd reason I want to remove my egt gauge would I be able to plug the hole in the exhaust manifold with a simple bolt? or is this a bad idea? Would you most likely have to remove the header and have the hole welded?

Yes you can. You need to buy an npt plug from a plumbing store that is the same size and just screw it in. Home Depot has a good assortment.

it would be too much work to just put a stock exhaust manifold on just because I have a hole there. I'll stop by homedepot tomorrow and try to find something, thanks.

I would try and use stainless steel if you can and also some nickel antiseize. Those should help with corrosion should you ever need to remove it in the future. 1/8 NPT is most likely the size, but make sure you double check with the probe mfg.

If the Depot doesn't have them try www.mcmaster.com
