Thanks, fazman. I was able to locate two 76 stations in my area that sell race gas.

From: St.Louis area
I live in the St.Louis Mo area and we can get 93 octane at Shell, mobile, and Standard/Amoco. Several years ago St.Louis and St.Charles counties agreed to carry only ethanol mix fuels which I like to avoid. The fringe area's in the more rural outskirts (where I live fortunately) get the non-ethanol 93 octane.

Turbo blue is also available in my area, but I have only found it so far in the leaded version for non-cat cars. It can only be pumped into a container for closed course use.

The 185-190 wheel hp we used to get out of EVOs was back when we dyno'd them in 4th gear (which is actually the gear closest to 1:1). Dyno testing them in 3rd gear (like everyone else does, by the looks of it), has brought output up by almost exactly 10 wheel hp. This is why most EVOs are now testing in the 195-200 wheel hp range. There are always some outliners, of course. A couple only made 175-180 wheel hp (in 3rd gear, again). We had a several in the 204-205 wheel hp range as well.

What we do know is that, in CA, a bad tank of premium gas (from say, Beacon or Costco) can virtually cripple the output of an EVO, resulting in pathetic run-to-run consistency and easily a 10 wheel hp loss. This is from the knock sensor activity. Who is to say that those low outliners didn't get a bad tank of gas? Don't know. That's how sensitive these ares are to octane. When I go tuning out-of-state, it's like I'm in heaven

Cheers
