Question Evo IX MAF Problem!

I just installed the HKS SRI system on my Evo IX last night, immediately after the install the car does not run right at all. Here are the symptoms: When in any gear, mainly 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, the RPM's shoot up immediately like the clutch slipped or something, then go back down for a second and contimue back up normally. I have no clue what this is from, but is extemely annoying as it throws my timing of shifts way off. An evo friend of mine told me that this is because of too much air flow, and maybe the stock BOV cannot handle the amount of air intake. Does anyone know what the problem is? ANy help at all is very appreciated! thanks.

Im guessing your not tuned for the intake. That is the first problem. Take off the intake and put back on the stock one to see how it drives after that.

u can't throw in intake w/ out tunes on evo's...
put your stocker back till you have time to get a tune...
maf is crucial in performance of your evo...if the a flow differs from factory too drastically the ecu will puck up by throwing off your fuel curves, timing etc...oh yeah...stock filter is pretty efficient in design anyways

If the RPMs jump when on the throttle then drop and dont let off the throttle then the clutch is toast.

Not everyone can afford a tune..............so thats why i tried a SRI first to see how it performs. So now im gonna rip out the HKS and go back to stock. But i think what ill do is maybe mod the stock airbox alittle. Has anyone tried cutting a hole in the top of the airbox, and dropping a K&N filter in?

This car is 2 weeks old, there is NO way a clutch could roast that fast. And if that is the clutch i would be the only Evo driver to roast a clutch that quickly!
