I will take pics of everything in the engine bay and post them up tomorrow. I dont think I can put the maf on backwards it only connects 1 way, and the "boxy" part is on top

Vice grips, intakes, and STILL driving the car when it was obviously begging for mercy. Does anybody research their purchasing decisions beforehand? Until you've got people lining up at the dyno JUST to see your tuner run a baseline, then an aftermarket intake is a waste of time and money. For the same money you could have bought some mods that make a noticeable and instant improvement to the car's performance. A boost controller for example. A stiffer rear sway bar too. You also could have bought four K&N drop-in filters for the price of that intake. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I hope you get this fixed but you've only yourself to blame. Better luck on the next mod.

NA cars respond very differently to specific mods than a forced induction motor. All you should be doing is letting that 4G63 "exhale" easier right now. The stock airbox provides plenty of "inhale". It sounds like you know how to wrench. You would love the extra power from a cat-back exhuast and it's easy to install with some jackstands or some rhino ramps.

Look, we know that isn't what you found when you researched. We have thousands of threads saying the same thing about NOT GETTING AN INTAKE. Over and over and over to the point of insanity.

Dude, I'm not gonna argue. I made my own post about intakes and listening to what some people said before I made up my mind. Why are you so gung-ho on the fact that im a newb when it comes to cars? my god.

I think whats bothering warrtalon the most is that it hurts your performance at this moment and your still bent on using it.

On topic:

Alot of posters have pointed out that an air leak or misplaced vacume hose would cause very similar results. I'd like to add that a vacume leak could do similiar behavior.

You don't happen to have a vacume/boost gauge do you? would be kinda usefull to check if your idle vac. is alright.

just put this intake on my car today

car runs fine
car idles fine

my guess, you have the maf sensor on back to front. make sure your maf loom is facing the front of the car. if it isnt, its on the wrong way.

You can drive around all you want with an intake on without a tune but you'll lose power and it would be a good idea not to get on it at all.

....uh, yeah that sounds good. Try that one, and let us know.

Seriously though, the previous posts are right. You should be concentrating more on the exhale than the inhale. Once you get TBE, etc, THEN put cold air on and get a tune for all of it.
