350z vs. the EVO

Just wanted to share my story. We line up on a 3 lane road as the light turned red. He was behind me...other two lanes were taken...boo hoo. So without smoking my clutch or destroying my trany I take off slow and then floor it. He get's over to the middle lane right on my rear bumper. We stay in that formation all the way until the middle of forth when I let off due to traffic. So basically my EVO is dead even with a 350z in acceleration...but from a stop I'll jump a few car lengths.

Less than $500 in mods and you will smoke a 350 by over a second 0-60, worse in the 1/4 mile. I don't care what a car runs stock, its how it responds to mods. A Z is pretty much tapped out as it sits, with mid-high 13 second quarters the best you get without a power adder. I will willingly race, smoke, and humiliate any Z who would like to play.

Agree! The Evo 7 in Japan is teste dto run 12.9 in teh quarter stock. So the EVo ha s alot of potentila. Intake , exhaust, boost controller, and S-AFc will bring you over $300rwhp, so teh 350Z will be toast. Same mods on the 350Z ( with the BC) will give you 10rwhp.

Just thought I'd let you guys know, Top Secret has a prototype turbo kit on their 350Z with all the usual bolt-ons plus fuel and engine management professionally tuned of course. With stock internals, transmission, and upgraded clutch.

Well long story short it put out 465hp to the wheels on 18psi.
Still want to RACE?

Don't get me wrong I love the Evo (picking one up next week) but I really don't think that the Z is as lame as some might think it to be.

Wow all that for $500 that is a hot deal! I want a 465hp to the wheels on 18psi car for that price, otherwise i'll settle for a MSRP+$500 EVO at ~300+hp

Hey I'm just trying to make the odds a little more equal. Boost for Boost.

But it was really directed to this:Originally posted by:

boost for boost....... well what do you do when the evo has 3.5 liters of displacement then..... that kit would cost so much, and youd have to redo the bottom or lower compression soooo much to do 18psi on that car, i dont think thats reasonable at all to bring up, i bet youd need closer to 10k unless youre gonna pull the motor yourself to make the 350z run 18psi, we are talking big big money

If you really think that the Z can hang with an Evo in anything but a straight line, you need to lay off the crack pipe a little bit...

Heh... to be honest I have no problem racing most 300ZXTT as well. I have owned one, and know that they get expensive to get down below the 13 second mark.

Don't take this wrong, I love both the TT and 350Z's, but bang for the buck performance and handling goes to the Evo, otherwise I would be driving an 350 Enthusiast model right now.

A stock Z vs. a stock Evo on the highway - the Z will win ( unless it has 200K miles on stock turbos and 120 compression).
0-100 - Evo will win
1-150 - Z will win
50-150- Z will win.

And that is all highway. The Evo will excel in any other situation. But that is vs. a stock Z.
Yes, teh Z is more expensive to mod because there everything is double. But intake, full exhaust, ECU, boost controller = close to 380-400rwhp. And that is about $2000 in mods. After that it gets expensive because you need to upgrade two intercoolers vs one, six injectors, and two turbos.

I would lov eto have an Evo for a daily driver, but I am keeping the Z for the weekend. These HKS 2835s are good to 800rwhp

A EVO is quite a bit faster faster than a 350z.It is faster to 60,100,
and in the quarter mile.Every magazine that has tested the
cars said this.I have never seen a 350z go to 60 below 5.4 seconds and 13.9 in the quarter mile.
