Bad aero, but the evo can get the job done
This Evo7 broke the 200mph barrier!!! with less than 700hp.
High boost ( low lag ) = 730Hp & 609LbFt @ 2.1 bar, Klotz race Fuel, 2.2 ND Engine, GT3542 turbo, Holinger H pattern custom dog box with Ikeya sequential shifter.

the norris design VII is mad crazy...saw the video where it competed with some skylines and supra's on a big airfield...truly amazing.
the c6z06 is f***ing fast stock, and gets stupid fast after minor bolt-on's. once the LS7 starts getting FI'ed it's game over for pretty much everything on the streets...
IMO if u want a car for top end power, get something other than an Evo. just because the Evo can doesn't mean it should be made to break 200mph...IMHO. the Evo IMO is perfect with 450whp and some suspension mods, which will make a very fearful car on the track against almost anything.
an ideal top end car would need good aerodynamic, gearing, and obviously a sh*tload of power. oh, and very fat tires.

ok the 07 zo6 runs the 1/4 in 11.6 right off the show room floor........so in an evo it will take alot of work, like changing the gearing and what not.... but you would have a better chance just getting a z06
11.08 128.82 1.80 DA=613 feet
11.10 128.58 1.80 DA=750 feet
11.06 127.80 1.72 DA=825 feet
Heres a bone stock Z06 on DR best current track times driven by a good driver ( Ranger )who as I mentioned before will probably break into the high 10's very soon.

Omg for starters alot of bad info on here.
First of all, the zo6 granted a very nice and fast car is not superior to the evo in every way. THE ONLY WAY THAT CAR IS FASTER THAN YOURS IS IN A STRIAGHT LINE. I gaurantee you that on a willow springs type track or dirt, snow, rain, sleet, etc etc that zo6 is history.
Now to your question. WHat mods and at what cost?
Well many different answers to this hypothetical question. If you are looking for the cheapest most reliable way to accomplish this feat. is to obviously do a turbo upgrade. What turbo you ask? Well you have a variety to chose from. You have garretts great line of turbos to chose from from the gt35-gt42 range you basically can produce well over 500-800wheel, you also have innovate or precison that also makes great turbos. Now IMHO if building over 500whp on a evo you must build the bottom end at least. A stroked motor will help you with the tq so a 2.3L is a wise decision. Then of course the supporting mods like 3in tbe, o2, cams, arp studs, injectors 880 or 1000cc(must go standalone at this point unless a map hasbeen created for those), wbo2, ebc or mbc, walbro 255, clutch, and of course a dyno tune.
All this depending on who you go to for parts and labor and of course brands will run you anywhere between 15-25grand. And this will basically roast the zo6.

Gearing and aero must change if he want to keep up with Vette @ 160MPH!!
Evo's Cd is like .38...while the Vette is around .29 (IIRC)
at 160mph the Evo is basically trying to overcome an invisible wall. plus the stock 5spd (for IX anyways) will be rev-limited at around 160mph, so a gearing change is necessary.

my real good friend has a 03 ZO6 and he put down 613awhp on a procharger. He has kicked it with several new z's. He said he does not pull them as hard as he thought he would, but he does pull him. I know of a 550awhp evo that will give it to my buddy, when we get it done. lol
