. The Mirage was a smaller car originally and in the '90's it had the body of the Lancer. The Lancer was actually made since 1973, the Evo 1992, thats a whole 19 years, and then in the early 80's Mitsu introduced a turbocharged version and in 1985 came AWD . The Lancer was a rally-inspired car b4 the Evo was even conceived on paper. I hate when ppl talk **** about the Lancer and don't know the history. The Evo is an incredible car and I would like to own one but unfortunately i can't afford it and so does the rest 70% of the ppl that want one. I can go on and on but i think I got my point across and if u want I can provide atleast 3 sites where u may find this information. I'm not sayin i know everything but i know enuff, the Lancer deserves to keep it's name. Do your research b4 u start denouncing the Lancer homeboy.
yeah but you could def strip the evo
because ever since 1990 the eclipse has been making 195hp
that seems like a good engine /turbo /transmission set up
to sell to people for cheaper then the evo
but ALSO i hate seeing wrxs with sti parts on them
so id hate seeing lancers trying to look like evos
i think the way its done right now is fine
id honestly like there to be no such thing as a lancer
and only an evo
why coudlnt they call the lancer the mirage or something
its embarassing to have the same name as that car

I would definitely buy that eclipse if it was to be produced.
In all reality, a big part of the reason Nissan was able to cut cost and become profitable all of a sudden is the fact that they decided to simplify things. They took their new and improved V6 and V8 platforms and put it in all of their cars depending on the needs of the consumer. Then they were able to focus their attention to the styling/interior/suspension sectors. Mitsu should do the same and make the 4G63 available in all of their vehicles in detuned or uptuned versions depending on the consumers' needs along with a new V8 that they can throw on their heavier vehicles. It will cut cost by quiet a bit since its a proven 4 banger that makes the power of a V6 and will only need minor tweaks on a yearly basis to improve gas mileage etc. Hell they can even just swap turbos depending on the consumers needs. This way they can spend some money in the much needed transmission and styling sectors for their vehicles. Just my $.02.

The WRX has a very different drivetrain than the STI. It's ~70hp down from the STI.
Imagine a Lancer Ralliart with ~230 HP, AWD, no Brembos, small wing, viscous center diff, viscous or no front LSD...that would be comparable to a WRX.
What about Mitsu's proto type 4G eclipse GSX with teh EVO platform and drivetrain So yess AWD Turbo.... I know it is old news but no body mentioned it so thought I toss it up not that it will ever be made to the point they show, I dont even think it will be made in general
