So Frustrated ! ! !...another Mitsu Service Rant
Long story short: new IX, new synchros @ 700 miles, chattering after synchro work, new transmission request, request DENIED by district rep, rescheduled again to replace other synchros, idler, etc.
Called Mitsu to complain and see if they could get me a new one. Pretty much got the stiff one. I can't believe how horrible they are at customer relations. I really do feel sorry for guys with mods that get denied. Feel even worse for guys with no mods that get the stiff one like i just did.
Reason i'm pissed is i don't want a rebuilt transmission with only 2000 miles on the car; esp done by someone that hasn't done it before. WTF!
for the IX

End of Rant...thank you for listening!

I just want it to work no problems for like 20,000 miles.....then if stuff breaks ill put something bigger and better.
I just can't justify that on a brand new car. Esp since a Shep tranny would run me around 5000 prob.

I would have taken that to court... You would have won. The law states that they must warranty stuff as long as the mods have nothing to do with the problem at hand. So a TT cant cause your trans to go bad, so they would have to warranty the trans. Just as an example.

Yeah, I feel your pain. It's frustrating having a useless 5 year 60k bumper-to-bumper warranty. It's not even worth the paper it's printed on.
But honestly, I see both sides of this issue. Mitsu isn't stupid and they obviously realized that a disproportionate number of people were beating on the car and breaking things that shouldn't be breaking. There's just too many bad drivers and kids out there destroying transmissions and burning up clutches. (I'm not saying you fall into this category.) I totally disagree with their aggressive practice of voiding warranties and I wish I could count on the warranty that I paid good money for. But I understand why it is the way it is.
The other thing is that most of the Mitsubishi techs are total retards and have no idea how to work on an Evo. I don't really want them touching my car. For the most part I'd rather just pay a hardcore Evo tech and know that my car was taken care of the right way.
BTW I see you're in Philly - what dealer was this?

Yeah man, i guess i was lucky. I have an 03 evo gsr, and at 11,000 miles my 5th gear syncro went out, they replaced it, and i havn't had the problem since! I now have 60,000 miles, an exedy twin and multiple 7,000 rpm launches at the track, and the tranny is still holding well. Good luck, mybe this time they will fix it correctly!
I'm surprised that i have not seen one post on this forum about people lemoning the car. After this appointment coming up, i will be at a second repair for the transmission; a third and that qualifies me for Lemon in PA!
Thing that ircks me is that my last car i lemoned as well.
As for how i drive the car....i usually drive them for what they are: a perf. vehicle. NO launching, dragging, etc....i just like to do twisties and some quick sprints.
This car i have done none of the sort....been the easiest 2000 miles any car i owned has ever seen.
Oh well......we shall see how this repair turns out. Good luck to everyone else out there having issues.
We should organize a petition or something and send it to "Hiroshi Harunari" and a few car magazines, etc.
Maybe something can be done about the horrible customer service.
