10 things you dislike on your Evo?
Hey everyone.
Ever wonder about those tiny inconveniences about your Evo. The small couple flaws that Mitsubishi overlooked when designing this almost perfect machine they call the Evolution?
Well, the other night I was thinking about them while waiting for my car to warm up and was wondering what everyone else on here thinks.
Here goes a list of what "I believe" Mitsubishi should've fixed/changed before the car ever hit the showroom floor:
1. Express Windows. The car only comes with one-touch down express for the driver's side window. Why not express up and down on ALL four windows? I mean c'mon Mitubishi. Would it cost you THAT much to include that in? It's a $37K car(MR) for crying outloud.
2. Clock. If the sun is out, so is the time.
3. Onboard display. All it shows is your Odometer & Trip. It would be really useful if they included MPG & Range. Then again, I might not want to know my MPG with the mileage im currently getting.
4. Carbon Fiber. On a car like this, they should've used "real" carbon fiber atleast on the dash, E-brake lever, & shift knob.
5. Climate system. Comparing it to the JDM version, the one they sent over for us Americans seems primitive. From the "Auto" feature to the actual look(nobs) of it, the JDM system looks alot better. Our version looks like they got it from a Second-Gen Eclipse extra parts bin over at the plant. Speaking of Eclipse, anyone see the climate system on the new one? Keep in mind how much MORE the Evolution costs, it just doesn't make sense. Why put an inferior part on the superior sports car? Anyway, moving on.
6. Boost Gauge. (Mitsu gauge kit). It would've been nice if it read PSI instead of Bar. Would just be alot easier for some of use.
7. Sun Visor. I think this is the only car currently in production in the 21st century that doesn't have lights around the sun visor's mirrors. Not a big deal but you know.
8. Paint. As most of you know already, the paint on this car is not something to rave about. It seems very thin. Washing the car & getting certain marks out seems like a mission.
9. Brembo Brakes. The brakes are wonderful and you could'nt ask for anything better, but it's really annoying when you get a rock in your Caliper and it starts making that really loud squeeking noise. There must've been a way to avoid this? Maybe a stone-guard type thing?
10. Audio System. The stock audio system on the car pretty much stinks. Mitusibishi could've made it Sirius/Xm compatible or MP3 CD playable atleast.
Anyway those are ten flaws or inconveniences IMO that the Evolution has. Did they prevent me from getting the car? Hell no
I still think it's one of the greatest cars you can buy under $50K. It's the only one that is capable of putting a smile on your face every time you drive it, no matter how long for.

Pretty naive thought process there bud. Don't you think that at some point, there has to be room for improvement, even dare I say an evolving process for a car?
Different people want different things out of their vehicle. Obviously the manufacturer can't please everyone, but seriously having a thread about what could or should be improved would only help this process.
Yes. The Montero's are(were) very similar to that. We have to realize the Lancer Cedia came out in like 2000 or 2001 and was designed years prior, so it is no suprise that years later a lot of people think it looks dated and cheap. That's mainly because it was a cheap car designed years ago. I still wonder why so many people complain about things that they should've noticed on the test drive or just by sititng in the car before taking delivery. I think that's why you get so many "shoudl've bought a BMW" comments.
1. Rear bumper is ****ty! I like the JDM bumper with the rear diffuser ALOT BETTER
2. A lil heavier, I was expecting 3000-3200 lbs.
3. Dashboard/cd player is ****! not a problem bc I upgraded that in no time
4. Radio Antenna, looks like you fishing pool
5. Momo steering wheel is peeling off
6. No AYC
7. I can't think of anything else because I JUST LOVE THIS CAR

Only one person mentioned the crappy horn ... one of my first mods was a pair of air horns. I honestly honked at a guy and he didn't even hear it. I bought the new horns that night.
I'll add that the stock stereo in my MR looked like it belonged in a Kia.
The steering wheel doesn't telescope. That would help those of us with long legs to get a better driving position ...
For some reason my windshield attracts rocks ... 2 incidents in less than 4 months.
The positioning of the cup holders is odd. My arm hits any beverage there when I'm trying to shift.
Alcantara in the seats ... cheap *** felt on the door cards.
My floor mat slides around a bit. A second "hook" would have helped that.
The rear wiper sprayer gets water on my front glass. Annoying, but not terrible.

I think the shift light on the STi is pointless, especially since it's mounted in the cluster. Might as well just use your RPMs. Then again, I never understood a shift light on a street car.
As for the diff. If you mean the ACD, they all come with it. If your thinking AYC, that is only in JDM/UKDM models.

i dont know what the mechanism is called..its the one where you can control where most of the power goes (front, rear, middle, etc)
I believe all Evos after '04 have it. I think the bottom it replaces was the intercooler sprayer. I could be wrong though.
