The only serial port adapters I trust are from Socketcom. They are expensive, but they work the best. I recommend the PC Card Serial Adapter. Here's the link:
http://www.socketcom.com/product/con...SL0700-004.asp

It will work, most of those cheap USB dont. Only use Com1-Com4.

Some USB adapters work better than others. One we stock works well.
Check in the device manager what virtual COM port is your USB adapter assigned to. Some USB adapters install at high COM numbers (above 8).
Also, please make sure you are using the original serial plug and phone like wire supplied with the Zt-2.

Thanks

I tested a Serial to USB converter from Radio Shack ($35.99) and it worked fine.

Go to Start ...Settings...Control Panel ... Select System...Select / click on the Hardware tab...Click on the Device Manager Button...Scroll down to Ports and Click on the +....Look and see what ports you are using (your converter will be one of those)...

That screen says the device is not configured correctly. Did you install the driver ? Did something go wrong in the install ? Uninstall and reinstall the driver that came with the cable. See if that fixes it.

It's hard to see on this small pic but it looks like there is a yellow question mark there.
Did you install the driver supplied with the USB adapter?
