This high clutch engagement was my immediate and first negative criticism for Evo.

same here mine engages high/top of the stock clutch pedal...glad i found this topic

when should we start to worry that the clutch is on the way out... it terms of pedal travel...like when it travels/hooks up closer to the floor board?

Yeah...mine engages at the top too. I've been told the easiest way to notice if your clutch is going out is to watch the RPM's in your top gear for slipage (if that's even a word).

this pisses me off too!

I learned to drive using stick and when I got into the Evo for the test drive...I stalled once in the beggining not thinking it would catch so high....it get on my nerves as well.

One of my friends drives a Civic Si and his catches like 1 inch from the bottom, I like his more than the high catch like these Evo's

btw...is it ok to adjust the clutch catch...like said above it wears the clutch more, does it cause any other problems??

See if this helps...

Watch out for the metal bracket that holds the clutch pedal safety switch!
It will slice your knucles in no time. I just bend it out of the way, adjust the clutch, and bend it back when Im done.

mine engages pretty quick, I have the ACT six puck. I would say I have to release it about less than 1/4 way for it to start to engage.
