yep, i had the same problem awhile back. they said it's not a 'rust through' situation so nothing can be done. BS. i have rust developing under the hood, under the door jams and any other place where there's no possible way for rocks and whatever to get through. the carbon fiber wing cr@p sucks @ss too.

You guys over the water sound hard done by!
Here in the UK, the warranty work decision many depends on how well the dealer puts it accross to Mitsi HQ.

Take some high resolution pictures of the problem, take them to you steeler, and get them to submitt them to Mitsi.

Evo Rusting

Guys,

My White Evo did the same thing. From what I could tell the flexing of the sheet metal under the wing cracked the paint causing it to rust.

Just FYI

Sorry to hear about the rust and they cannot do nothing if there is no hole? That's total BS, So that means they knew about the rust ****., It sux, I cannot tell you how much rust is behind the front bumper on my car, on screws..and frame, where stock air box used to be, Maybe there is some anti-corossion spray we can purchase?

Rust in this particular area is quite common no matter what year you have. I have a 2005 and I took my wing of for a couple weeks to see how I liked the wingless look. When you take off your wing there is a small hole at the base of each side on the inside rear of wing. Even after 10,000 miles I started to see that the paint was beginning to bubble and a small amount of rust was underneath it. Luckily the spot was no bigger than an eraser head when I caught it. Anyways water drains through this hole and continously drips on the trunk in this area, causing it to rust over time. It will start very small and grow eventually to the size of a baseball. The only way to tell is to actually take the wing off the trunk. I luckily caught this in time so I took some fine grit rubbing compound to it and repainted it and then put the wing back on. I did bring it to mitsu when I first saw it and they took pictures and said that they would send them to corporate. 6 months later I have still yet to hear a response.

How is your aluminum hood rusting?

Is it maybe just the hood skin that's made of aluminum? Perhaps the frame underneath is steel?

Sorry to hear that man... i don't understand why these different dealers don't have ONE standard for warranty coverage... MMA needs to set one that forces all these dealers to abide by

They advertise these cars like they have such great warranty, but mitsu always looks for a way around everything. mitsubishi their selves really have bad customer service
