rusting is not a common problem for evo unless your area has bad weather like 3 months non stop raining.

i have little rust spots on my door starting already. i wonder if that is covered.... if warranty dont cover it... there's always insurance coverage =).

 

I know if you buy the car used only the powertrain waranty comes with it. Don't know about the rust. Good luck with everything

 

my car is basically a garage queen, i only take it out in good weather. I have the same rust issue right where the wing meets the trunk, and its rusted all the way through. (hole. thru. the. metal. completely.) SO I know they ****ed up when they painted these cars.

This summer sometime im going to take it to the dealer and get it fixed, under warranty.

Im going to update when this happens, hopefully all you others will have some luck.

The factory only sprays one coat of clear on your hole car. The wing I am sure only hase one coat too. The clear turning white or milky and flaking off because there is too little material for good UV protection. Too little material can be as bad as too much material.

 

i actually got mine fixed under warranty about 2 months ago. i was suprised that they didn't give me a hard time. for an extra $75 the body shop that does the work for mitsu. plugged the holes for me so i'm now wingless :-) alot cheaper than buying a used trunk lid, plus they re-sprayed the whole trunk so everything is a 100% color match.

 

i have also have a rust bubble on my trunk lid when i took off the wing. the rust already broke through the paint but no hole. i will call mitsu to see what happens. i doubt they will fix it for free.

 

ive seen that problem on alot of evos. go with cf if it gets bad
