I bought a wrecked EVO IX :(
Damn Troung, sorry to hear about this. I'd definitely get all the info you can and try to get some sort of reparations.
As for everyone screaming "CARFAX, CARFAX"...go right ahead. I could sell my car to anyone and you'd never know I had $4800 in repairs done after getting rear-ended. The body work is immaculate and the shop never reported it to Carfax.
It's a good place to check, but it's no always accurate.

Also not to be a jerk, but just so people know, a LOT of cars get into accidents and cars are not people, they don't get buried - they are sold at insurance auctions where people and dealerships buy them, fix them and sell them to us. You may NEVER know whether your car had damage before you bought it even if it has 0 miles on odometer. Cars get damaged in dealer transport all the time. A lot of it is just paint damage that Abra takes care of. And even Salvage, Junk, Flood and Lemon cars get resold with clean titles by moving them across state lines.
So this of course sucks, but the people that said that 12k damage on Evo is small are correct. So do not be too upset if you will end up keeping this car, find out what kind of damage it had, inspect it at a reputable shop and keep it.
Good luck!

Very good point, ALOT of body shops dont even bother with that stuff.
Well you cant all go knocking every used evo, thats like saying every single one of your cars instantly turns into a piece of **** after you sell it, there are obviously those gems that you can tell were taken care of well. I myself bought my IX SE with 2500 miles on it and it is perfect in every way, saved thousands of dollars, couldnt be happier.
That's true but obviously his insurance company found it out somehow, besides this is the same people that already played him once by trying to sell him the G35, won't hurt to spend that $10, better safe than sorry. I don't mean to bash the thread starter, but I'd never even consider setting my foot in that same dealership again let along buying another car from them after the first time, you know what they say, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me".

If they did not tell you that it has been in an accident, then you can sue them. In business there's a clause called, "Caveate Emptor" which mean, Let buyer beware. It's a law that makes the seller responsible for fully disclosing all necessary information before the transaction is finalized.
Years ago, a man bought a BMW from a dealer. The car was actually submerged under water and sustained severe water damaged. The dealer basically fixed it and made it look like its brand new and sold the car as a brand new car. The man later found out and sue the dealer under Caveate Emptor and won. The judge award the man like $80K (Not sure), but also award the man with $2 or $3 million dollars for punitive damage. Punitive damage is like a punishment for the seller for their wrong doing.
I think you have a case, take the car back and ask for your money or make a big deal out of it and sue them. Since you said that it's not their first time selling a wreck car to you.

Please don't say things like this unless you have 1st hand experience. Im sure everyone knows about the man that bought a BMW years ago, from a land far far away....
You wont be able to sue because when you buy a used car, YOU the consumer has the responsibility to inspect, and purchase the vehicle "AS IS" WITH or WITHOUT the remaining warranty...
In the example of your "BIMMERMAN"... if the whole car is submerged in water ala Katrina, the vehicle WOULD BE salvaged. PERIOD. Reason why that dude would have just cause would be a Salvaged vehicle case where the vehicle was "mis-represented"
In the case of this EVO, it wasn't.....
Not true.

Before buying an evo, I went to a local Ford dealer (they had a used evo in my area) and test drove it. Well it was nice, and all but it was RS and white (I wanted anything except white and I love the power options and so on). They were pissing around with me for 1.5 hours trying to sell that evo. It was 03, with 27K on odo. they wanted 24K for it (spring 06). Well, they got it down to like 20K. I told the guy $250 a month with 5K down and I buy it
, anyways he was only able to do $330 (I think).
I asked him if the car was ever wrecked and he said no, they can't sell wrecked cars (it was a big Ford dealership). I still asked him to print out a CarFax. Well, guess what it wasn't salvage, but it showed damage to the headlight, left fender etc. Under 3K. I walked right out.
But what if I would agree, and didn't check the VIN. WTF??????

.....Here is another thing. Me and my girl went to a dealership, she liked one 01 Audi TT (it was couple months after I got my evo). She test drove it and liked it, I tried it and it was fine too. We want home. We got the money, the next day she went there and purchased the car (I couldn't make it when the deal was going on). Well, when she got home I dicded to check the vin (I know I should have done it sooner). Well, it said that the car was ok, but there was bumper damage.
She asked the dealer if the car was in any kind of damage and he said no. After I got a print, I went over to that guy and told him to take the car back so on (he wasn't even trying to make me happy as a customer at all) all he had was excuses and stuff like. He was just refusing to do anything, I ended up hitting him in face (really hard too) and walking out. He was a bit older than me, but still a young guy
I called dealer thing (like BBB) and they said he wasn't a member so they couldn't do anything, and after I talked to the layer he pretty much told me that I can't do anything, cause it was AS IS.
To the starter of the thread:
You can try this - somehow find out who are that dealers customers (just couple) if he sold you 2 wrecked cars, he probably sold couple to other people and they might not even know about it. Contact them and if you all do something, that won't hurt. The judge will see that he's scamming people... But I realize that it will be tough to get their phone numbers. Good luck though

Damn dude that sucks but atleast you had the chance to hit the guy in the face....haha
i used to work in a dealership. stuff like this is business as usual.
if YOU dont have any documents signed by the dealer that state "the car has never been an accident" then you dont have a case. if the DEALER has the documents that state that "the vehicle has never been in an accident," you best believe its in the shredder now. then its a case of he said, she said. and without proof, you dont have a case.
shoot, a dealer can even put MR badges on an RS, and pass it off to you as an MR if you dont ask questions. as long as he doesnt state that it is an MR in the paperwork, then hes in the clear.
there are worse things that can happen at dealerships.
