, that's why I said 50k worth of mods. You can't really complain about the EVO's performance in comparison to the Viper when you paid a hell of a lot less for your vehicle. You can only get so far before you have to start laying down serious cash.

an intake and exaust for an ENZO would probably run about 50k alone considering that they would probably be produced with the same material that Arnold Swartzen****er was made of in the terminator

For the record, the EVO's performance and handling IS awesome..
I love my car, and don't lose appreciation of it because of a viper THAT'S for sure..

And your right, for $30,000 it has a ****LOAD of performance!!

Becuase of it's starting performace and price, you could put $5,000 into mods, HANG with the Viper, and still be $20,000 less in cost if not more!!

I love my car..

I was at the last Streets event on 6/6/2003, there was a lot a very cool cars there, including a GT2 and a Viper.

Anyhow, just wanted to note that the Viper had the fastest lap of the day, followed by S2000s, and 2 turbo updgraded and heavily modded WRXs.

I saw one red EVO VIII show up he had numbers on but never ran, wonder what happened... FWIW this was my 2nd track event I had a ton of fun.

hehe....this same comment is made on honda civic forums.......yeah for <$10,000 i can mod my civic and hang with an evo and still be cheaper. silly comparisons really, but there is no doubt the evo is definitely towards the top of the list when it comes to bang for the buck.

one of our freinds from the MLR - Simon Norris -has a tunning bussiness in the UK and has a 700 hp evo VII and over 600 Ib ft and it has cost him over 70,000 GBP to do it ( more than 100,000 USD including the car cost) the cars performance is stagering

0-60 2's
0-100 6.8 secs

and 1/4 in the 10's

go to http://www.norrisdesigns.com/ and look under demo cars !
I wish I had the money to put that in my Evo!

I was kinda hinting at a Lingenfelter tuned vette though! This guy dropped twin turbos in a vette and beat the hell out of a fighter aircraft with it. He does offer a twin turbo package for $49,995 that I believe is very very slightly down on power compared to the one he ran against the fighter and can be driven on the street in most states except cali. The one he ran against the fighter was tested at something like a 1.9sec 0-60.

On a similar note I did see another comparison with a viper against a fighter and it was about even with the jet.

In case anybody was wondering the tests were conducted with the aircraft doing like they would do in a take-off (they were not already airborne).

Just a car cover and some custom valve stems should take care of the $50K.

Exclamation EVO Performance

Don't you guys know your own cars performance?? EVO's without mods on a good day will hit 5 sec 0 to 60 and 13.4 quarters. A very lucky EVO owner will see 13.1's with everything working right. That is a fantatically fast off the showroom stock automobile. Your car costs around 30 grand versus an $70,000 thousand Viper that is capable of 4.0 second 0 to 60 and 11.7-8 quarters with a top end over 180. Put 2 or 3 thousand in your 30,000 car and you will be running with the Viper. You already handle nearly as well. A Buick GNX is a very special car even in unmodified form. It ran 13.0's off the showroom floor and would be in the 11's with minimal tuning. You just happened to pick on two cars that you never had a chance against. Just enjoy suprising the heck out af a 70,000 plus grand Porsche 911. I have driven fast cars and raced most of my life and find the EVO a blast to drive and a formidable stock street racer. It eats Mustang GT's for lunch

Sorry that you misread it..
No I don't think the EVO is the fastest car in the world..

But I will admit, I am learning what it can mess with and I'm not quite sure the Vipers and GNX's are the ones..
Besides, these runs were for ****s and giggles, you know?

I couldn't pass upo the chance to run (or try to ) run with these cars...

You would have too, right?
Come and see my car... then we will go race the monsters.

My thoughts exactly. I will take a stock Evo in the rain against just about any other stock car. Heck the Viper would probably end up in a ditch
