The only problem that can happen is your engine bay gets dirty (unless you run off road or hit road debris). Mine is off, those plastic tabs are just a pain & I busted 6 of them when removing the under tray to do my lower ic pipe. I don't plan on putting the tray back for a little while.

it's better to have it since it came with factory. I took out mine before when I was doing the motor mount and since I was gonna do tranny mount I keep it off for couple of weeks. the stock 05 undertray has good design, brake cooling guilds and tranny cooling guide (don't know about 03 04) I have no issue when it was off the car, but I did notice a difference during high speed (140mph+) the car is fighting hard to keep it going maybe due to the drag. car like Ferrari and many other sport car have them, keep them on or get after mkt one.

I had to take mine off because of my DP and open wastegate. Ran with out it for about 5k miles. Only noticed that around 150-170mph that there was a lot more resistance (new whistling noise) and I think that the brakes aren't cooled adequately because soon after it was off my rotors craped out.

There's already a big hole in the middle of the hood that allows plenty of water to get in there. I can't really see any issues other than more drag being added to the car.

On about 3miles of straight flat back roads that are isolated from people, especially police. Its just a short sprint to that speed, I basically get up to about 80ish (no turbo spool) in 5th, take that to about 7600rpms, then go half way through 6th w/ boost. I really want to top out the car one of these days. I estimate probably 195-200mph capable but the tires are only rated to 168mph so that makes me nervous.

I really want to top my car out that day when I was doing about 145mph, but I just couldn't, I try to think what is wrong with the car, and realized I haven't put back the undertray after motor mount.

Another benefit of undertray is to keep engine cooller, even the after market ones (carbing, beatrush) advertised the same benefit.

cssaddictm4, do you think the MR 6 sp can reach 195-200 mph? you will be cruising at about 8400rpm in order to reach that kind of speed

Took mine off when I installed the Buschur Race FMIC. Haven't put it back and don't intend to. It's much easier to work under the car. How often do I cruise to 140+ mph???

@ fugiwara

Thats just can estimate, redline is 8500. From what I was told, you can measure your speed at half your rpms in your top gear. So for me it is my speed in 6th at 4200ish rpms which is about 95-98mph. I figured I would just log it with my aem software and just bring it to redline for a couple of seconds in 6th.

PUT IT BACK ON!!!! I took mine off for a clutch job and lagged on putting it back on. Biggest mistake of all time. Crushed my oil filter from hitting something on the freeway. This picture and the $9K bill for a new block and built(stroked to 2.3 since the motors out) motor should be enough reason to go put your undertray back on. TODAY!

Insurance if you have full coverage should have covered that. It's like an accident almost. Road debri damaged your car, like it can a windsheild, and etc.

File a claim if you still can.
