So no one else noticed the understeer? Well, in my case, for whatever reason, when I took it off I couldn't go NEARLY as fast on the on and off ramps to the highway. I've been driving these ramps for three years on this car and it's a huge difference.

On touchy cars like the FD, if you don't run the undertray you can see significant underhood temperature increase.

I took mine off when I started modding my car (like a month after buying it). Its been off ever since. I've never had any issues with it off. I still have it though in case I need to put it back on for whatever reason.

I run without one in the summer time, but throw the beatrush undertray on for the winter months. Have to keep that salt and ice out of the engine bay.

leaving the under-tray off also makes it allot easier to snag your lip on things and tear it off.. i leaned that the hard way snagging on a stick backing up.. but i still dont have mine on, the car spends most its life jacked up, ive had mine off for 20k once my dump pipe was put on.

lol took mine off 3 times and was the biggest pain so never put it back on the 4th time. Never looked back. Plus it don't fit with my Ebay FMIC anymore.

I don't like running without it, but I have for short periods when required. It's not trimmed to fit the FMIC and the dump pipe. I'm actually in the process of making a carbon one to replace it and fill the gap left where I had to chop it for the FMIC.

The undertray is there for many reasons, only one of which it to keep rocks and such out of the engine bay, but that's minor. It provides down force and much needed cooling to the transmission, TC and brakes. That's the main purpose. Removing it will increase drag, lower fuel economy, affect handling and lower cooling ability of the parts mentioned. Keep it on.

i dont think the plastic undertray would have been helpful at this point... not with that kinda damage

The oil filter sits kind of high so I dont see how you hit something and did this. I would think you would of ruined your front bumper before hitting the oil filter.

eh, I lost mine in a bit of unlawful mudding-about.
Over 50K miles later, no bad business.
bent a downpipe from flying over a RR cross way too fast (reminded of the Ken Block ramp crash) but the undertray would not have prevented any impact.
What it is good for is keeping rocks, mud, stinky road dirt out and off your block. ( dirt and gravel out of your door hinges for the wheel wells.)
If you keep it, lovely. If you break or lose it, no worries.
