Another benefit of undertray is to keep engine cooller, even the after market ones (carbing, beatrush) advertised the same benefit.

cssaddictm4, do you think the MR 6 sp can reach 195-200 mph? you will be cruising at about 8400rpm in order to reach that kind of speed
Thought our cars were limited by gear to like 180mph... i highly doubt our cars do 195-200 mph...(even after extensive modifications)

i took mine off and avoid driving during bad weather. or you can use the undertray, just have 5-6bolt holdin it up. this way it less of a headache when removing it

Someone on the forums hit 191MPH a long time ago, it might have even been higher.

No under tray here.

That sucks, I think that is some kind of freak accident though. Mines on the car all the time. I have no reason to take it off. I can do all the maintenance with it on so I have no problem leaving it on.

I don't, it won't fit if you have a ams front mount.

I have had mine off for 10k now and I have not experiened any problems. It was such a B!tch to get off in the first place with all those damn clips that I did not even want to bother with putting it back on.

Leave it on. Mitsubishi spent a LOT of money and time on engineering that tray. There was a Mitsu published tech article I saw a while back that pointed out all its cool features. Brake ducting, element protection, and even a "vortex" generator (that dip and rise in the center!) that increases down force at high speeds.

Don't undermind the engineers :P it was put there for a reason.

If it doesn't fit your BAFMIC then you might want to consider trimming it to fit

Let me get this thread straight. Are we talking about removing the entire undertray or just that small access piece in the center to lift the car?

Not to mention the fact that the speedo is off by a fair margin, especially at higher speeds. The more reliable methods would be to use a GPS or radar gun.

I hear this crap all the time in the motorcycle world too....people saying they hit 180mph on their 1k's...I thought that speedo error was common knowledge.

I agreed. This is also an easy way to tell if someone really cares about their car. When I was looking at used Evo's I saw several without the undertray, which ment they were modded more than likely ,and that person was too lazy to put it back on. So they must have been too lazy on another part of the car also, and I want no part in that.

It's really not that hard to take it off and put it back on, if the car didn't need it I'm sure Mitsu would have loved to save money on the piece and increase their profits.
