I have an 06 Evolution 9 MR and am in the process of getting a navi unit installed. The particular unit requires us to tap into the speed wire for the car. Do any of you know where this wire is located and is it just a normal wire or is it optical ? ? ?

its pin #80 on the ecu, its black/yellow wire i beleive.

my stereo shop tapped into the VSS wire under the steering wheel column though.

 

Blk / yellow its right

 

Ok so it seems it is definatly the black/yel wire, now my next question is, where is the best place to gain access to this wire ?

right off the computer harness. passanger side take the glove box out and theres a little plastic panel that pops out and exposes all the wires from the ecu

 

did u get relocation kit ?

 

No, they're on back order for 6 weeks so I just could not bring my self to wait. Further more with the double din idea I was going to loose my gauges which is a little annoying. I ended up doing some research and the new JVC unit has been highly reccomended. It does everyting the Pioneer unit does but is single din and incorporates a 3.5in screen into the receiver. It also costs half as much as the Pioneer unit, I now dont need a $300 trim piece thats back ordered for 6 weeks and a keep my gauges so to be honest, all in all I am happy the double din idea did not work out. I'll let you now how it all turns out and will post pics. Should be done by next week.
