ditching the Evo for an STi
ditching the Evo for an STi
Ive been having some drivetrain issues, really fed up with all the wasted time and money. Ive always liked the STi's looks more and for anyone who's not a profressional driver, probably could drive just as good with both cars.
So, how many of you own Evos and are thinking of trading it in/selling it for an STi?
Feel free to try your best to talk me out of it...

hmm, just as an example, i've seen tons of guys go from sti to evo, but maybe only a couple go the other way. also, they are very similar cars so i doubt that if your not love'n the evo your going to go crazy for an sti. and as for "getting a different car" what are you looking for?
yea i fought the same battle when purchasing my 06 ix i really liked both cars the evo and sti, in my opinion both cars are pretty much the same evo little motor big turbo sti big motor little turbo, i been sick of the high *** car payment like after the second month, ive been also lookin into gettin a used sti like an 05 or an s2000 to go for looks, but all in all i would say go for the sti if ur havin problem with the drivetrain ur just diggin into spending mucho money
the STi is a nice car like they said is similar to the evo... when i was carshopping i test drove both and i liked the evo better not only because the way it handled but also the interior of the STi is F@cking blue and black, so unless you get a blue or black exterior, the car (to me) would look really funny

Remember that you can swap interiors with a WRX guy. I'm sure you could more than one person willing to trade, that's what I would have done if I would have bought an STi. If you're thinking about a used STi, go for an 05 because it has the 65/35 R/F bias for more sideways fun.
I thought 2nd gear sux on wrx/sti? I had a bugeye suby modded to hell and the syncos starting goin out on me...just think hard b4 getting another car. I know for a fact its goin to cost alot more to mod the suby though
All gears are hard to get into. I had to change my clutch at 10k miles, cost me 2 grand for the clutch/flywheel including installation, and gears still hard to get into at high rpm. and maybe im going crazy but ever since I had the dealership install the eibach spring kit my car has been handling a lot worse. The steering wheel feels harder to turn left, and turns to the right way too easily. And on top of all that, my a/f is way off and my boost gauge is all over the place, basically misfiring like crazy.
Ive invested 7 thousand into it(including paying for labor) and it only has 13k miles so itd be stupid to sell now, but Im definitly getting rid of it next year for an STi or 6 speed 540i.

I agree with you...I really love the 350z....I would have bought one, but they are not as fast as the Evo. But, I am realizing the Evo can't outrun the ugly...the 350z is a better looking car IMHO.
get the bimmer then. a lot of us have the same "notchy" gear feel. I guess that's just an annoying evo characteristic. Trust, I hate my tranny as well. The fifth gear grind pisses me off, so I just don't go that quick in it to where I need to quick shift into 5th gear. It's a frustrating car, but I love it.
