CONFIRMED: Lancer trunk fits on EVO

No one was 100% sure before, it was only assumed before. Well, I and LancerOzRally35 just proved that a regular Lancer trunk fits an EVO. LancerOzRally35 was cool enough to let me borrow his trunk lid.

I picked my EVO up at 2pm today, and basically drove right over to LancerOzRally35 place. We took off both trunks and put on the regular Lancer OZ trunk on my EVO. It fits, no problems. Direct bolt-on. BTW, my car had about 70 miles on it by then

Additionally, some people were stating that "the EVO trunk is reinforced compared to the lancer one". I never believed it but did not state this until I could see it for myself. We could not find any evidence that EVo trunk lids are reinforced. Realistily speaking, it would not make sense, the body is reinforced, but why would a trunk be that is attached by 4 wimpy bolts?

While we were at it, we took off the Altezza, and put on the EVO 7 lights. MUCH better. Anyone want any 4 hour old EVO tail lights?

Lastly, onyone know of any Lancer junk yards in the Philly, PA area? I want to pick up a cheap silver lancer trunk (no spoiler). Oh, and no, my trunk lid with the spoiler is NOT for sale.

Not really news to me....I contacted Monster Sport which makes Carbon Fiber Trunks for the EVO 7. They told me in broken English with a thick Japanese accent that. "For you to put trunk on Lancer Cedia you can for CT9A and new Evolution"

Reinforcement on a trunk means nothing if the mount points are the same. The Evo Trunk from the 7 and 8 is identical to the Lancer Cedia trunk. I challenge anyone to find a difference.

How odd, the EVO 8 looks better with an OZ wing and not the EVO 8 wing, weird.

Good info. Might follow your idea of getting a trashed oz lancer trunk for my Evo.

Low spoiler makes the Evo much more of a sleeper.

While taking it off, it felt like the EVO trunk lid was heavier than the OZ trunk. This could be due to the offset center of gravity when I was holding it though. We did not take any formal wheight measurments on a bathroom scale or anything like that.

No, we don't have any pics of that. We heard thunderstorms in the background so we wanted to get the trunk lids on the cars ASAP. Nothing got wet
