just though i would add, i tried this last week using duli-color clear engine enamel from (autozone) worked so good i couldn't believe it. no paint at all, the clear enamel brings the red right back to life as if they were brand new.
fyi removing the peeling clear coat i used an air compressor with an air tool attachment and blew it right off and no worries of scratching the paint or losing your finger nails

Looks good.
On a different note. Your wheels look spent. You don't have to check each curb as you drive by. I promise they'll still be even when they're out of view. LOL
