MR gauges lights change

I did a search and found threads that had no answer.

I just bought the Mitsubishi MR oem gauges and I am curious if the bulbs in them are replaceable with led lights? The gauges havent arrived yet, so I'm trying to find out ahead of time to make a purchase.

I'm particularely concerned with the 42draftdesigns high powered wedge LED's. They are designed as a direct replacement for certain aftermarket gauges such as the Stewart Warner etc.. (Size 194 / 168 replacement ) Also there is the Size Type D light bulb replacement for VDO gauges.

Are the stock bulbs similar to that of after market gauges? Has anyone succefully changed them to LED's?

no you can change them out. I had a kit to change all the lights to amber at one point in time. You might be able to swap them out with LED's, not sure on the type of bulbs. When I pull the car inside I'll look and post what type they are.

I couldn't find a number on the bulbs. There was a number on the bulb holder which was T2. I'm not sure if that is it but they are the same bulbs that light up the a/c panel if you want to pull one out.

This is low tech but if you find the dash color change thread, you can paint the bulbs in the gauges. The 42Draft bulbs won't even come close to working as they are far to big.

the lightrikz kit was the one I used. It replaces the stock sleeves that cover the lights. It comes out pretty good. The only thing is the clock is a little hard to see in the daytime with all the sheets in.

There was a thread on socalevo I believe and someone tried to customize these gauges with LED's and ruined the gauges. I wouldn't do it if I were you
