locked keys in car with it running...?
i have no idea what the hell i did, but i went our to leave from work, started her up, then went in to change...
when i came out the ****in doors were locked...
luckily my woman was home so that she could bring my spare key down...
i know the remote locking does not work with the engine on, so i must have hit the lock button as i was getting ready to twist the ignition, or i accidentally hit the lock button on the door as i was getting out, but i can't see anyway that i could have done that...
or was this a malfunction of some sort...?

I used to keep a spare key for my Civic in my wallet after I locked mself out of it... not a problem since it was a normal key. But the Evo key, with the transponder in the plastic shell, makes it a little cumbersome to carry the spare key around.
I know the doors re-lock themselves after some set time if you haven't opened the door after you've pressed unlock. But once you open the door I think it won't re-lock, so I don't know why your doors locked themselves.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm system? Some alarm system locks the door automatically when the door is shut and the car is turn on. There should be an option to turn this feature off, just need to check the user manual.

yeah, you don't need a chipped key to unlock your doors. It won't start your engine, but you might want to consider getting a regular key cut (with the code obviously) to avoid a situation like this in the future.
Perhaps off on a bit of a tangent, but if one did lock themselves out of a running car, would there be a safe way to shut down the engine, assuming the hood isn't opened? I can think of at least five ways, not sure how any of them would work on an Evo though...
1. Spray something noncombustible into the intake -- a CO2 fire extinguisher, perhaps?
2. Plug up the exhaust pipe nice and tight with a towel or something. That would stop the engine pretty quick, or the towel might be ejected at 80 MPH.
3. Reach up from under the front of the car and disconnect the central ignition wire. Don't get shocked.
4. If it's accessible, unplug or cut a wire to the electric fuel pump.
5. Squeeze off the fuel line with a pair of pliers.
