Nice Move by the Dealership!
Hello,
I am pretty new to Evolutionm, I have a 2006 Evolution MR with 5,000 miles on it. I took my car into the dealership to get an oil change, and figured I would get my tires rotated and balanced even though it was not desperately needed. Anyway to make a long story short, the mechanic put the ballancing weights on the outside of my wheels rather than using the sticky kind on the inside. By him doing this it chipped my wheels on all four where he clamped the weights on. I just noticed today and am going to make a trip to the service department tomorrow. I would like your input on what I should do. Should I ask them to replace my wheels? All input is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

i think you shouldve told them not to use regular weights but use sticky weight.. most tire shops if nothing said just uses regular weights.. sticky weight only allow static balance and isn't as pratical as the regular weight which can be balanced static and dynamic... hope that helps...
Thanks for the reply. Do you think I have any basis asking them to fix the damage they caused. It was a Mitsubishi Dealership that did the balance, IMO they should know clamping weights will damage the wheel, right?
I would seriously doubt they will do anything about the chips. Technically, weights being on the outside and inside is a "correct balance". I work in a service department and ANY time a vehicle comes in with aluminum/chrome wheels, we do weights on the inside only. It looks better, won't damage the outside of the wheel, and prevents corrosion from forming on the outside. Sorry to hear about the damage.

Dude, i dont know where you get your info from. But it is common sense not to put outside wheel weights on rims. Any tire shop knows that. They will have to give you new rims. It is not your fault at all.
they replace my rotas because when they were torqueing them down they chipped the inside of the rims where the lugs go... cant even see it unless ur looking for it...
just getting back at them for screwing everyone else =-)
