Anyone ever clean their headliner?

I know it sounds weird but my headliner is absolutely nasty, mainly around the top of each window opening. Evidentally everyone who has owned the car before me always drove with the windows down and they all lived in big cities. The headliner around the windows is literally dark gray, almost black.

Ive priced a new one but its unfortunately almost $500 so Im going to try to remove it and clean it somehow. Ive tried spot cleaning it with some Resolve carpet cleaner and it didnt phase it.

If anyone has any ideas or suggesstions I would appreciate it.

Pick up this stuff called Tuff-Stuff. Spray it on there and wait a few minutes and rub it out.

Use a Simple Green. Just mix it with a little water first. That will help ya.

mix regular Woolite laundry detergent mixed 10:1 with water, spray the area, wipe with quality microfiber cloth. steam cleaning would be best, search for a Piccolo steam cleaner from Costco ($60ish). good luck
