Question Evo clearcoated?

Looked around, found a ton of threads on care of the Evo paint and wax, but still one question; Does the Evo8 have a clearcoat?

I'd like to know so I can purchase the correct products (zaino, etc). They have different ones for clearcoat and non, and don't want to do any unnecessary damage.

Thanks.

im thinking about getting the Zaino products also.... their damn website is too confusing for people with ADD to read!!! GARRRRR!!

They have all of these steps to follow in order to get the best looking wax job, plus they have all these damn numbers for their products. ie - Z1, Z2, Z5, ZUltra bla bla bla

Hey, I'm with you... ADD or not, all those steps and products are too confusing, too laborious and too expensive. I'm using Zimol now and I'm going to try a couple of more products, but I'm not going to become a detailer extraordinaire Anyway, the fallout and crap where I live is so bad that all the detailing in the world wont keep the car looking good more than a day or so......

I wash & wax mine fairly often (once a week or twice a month). I just can't do more... After all, I do have a life

Don't get the Z1, get the ZFX instead. Z1 will require a few hours to cure, while the ZFX mix willl cure in about 15 mintues.

All you need for the Evo is ZFX, Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7, polish applicator, and maybe the Z18 (a pain in the *** to use). Total should run you about $80 something.

I'm just guessing on the $100...
I'm old school... I still use Z1 for first 1st layer... then wait 24
hours between each Z2 or Z5s...

I have Z18 and do not recommend it... it's WAY too hard and stiff
to fold... I like using Clay Magic's blue clay.. works just as well and
much easier to use.

there is clearcoat. BUT!!!! The inner sides of the car DOES NOT! I used some scratch remover next to the yellow paint on the side sills and removed the scratch. Then I looked at my towel. OMG, there's paint. Anyone have the same thing happen?

not really all that shocking, ever clean then wax an old car ? (prior to clearcoats) You always ended up with a little or a lot of the paint on your buff (depending upon the grit of cleaner you were using)

The clear coat is very very thin. I tried to polish out a small surface scratch, and ended up with a dull area down to the metal flake in about 10 seconds. So do NOT use polishing compound on your car, and be careful even with cleaner wax. Idunno if Mitsu was trying to save weight with thin paint or what...

*LOL* I just the other day I saw a black IS300 that looked like someone had decided to give her a good scratch up with rubbing compound. Whole body .. looked more rainbow then black because of all the really deep scratches

Maybe new Japanese cars, but not on my old '90 300ZX TT. I had the neighbors 80# mutt jump on the car as I was pulling out of the driveway once... he wanted to say hi to me as I had the window down. Only time I have ever closed fist punched a dog in the head. The sound of his nails going down my cherry door panel made me snap.

It was silver like my Evo, and the dogs claws left similiar scratches as the small one on the Evo, maybe a bit deeper. Polishing compound and a coat of wax restored it to new... which is why the dog is still alive. Had he done it to the Evo I would be looking for a body shop.
