Cheating Emissions

So i was chatting with a friend who owns an old diesel van about passing emissions the other day and he said that he usually locks the thottle from fully opening before he takes the car in for inspection.

My question is whether or not it would work for those of us who are running catless by lowering rev limit to 5500 rpms or putting something under the gas pedal to keep it from going full thottle.

Standing emissions are 2 step.. ie one at 3,000 and one at 5,000 rpm.. so it wouldn't help you at all either way other than failing you if you can't make it up to that rpm

Not sure how it's done where you are, but I'd imagine they are similar.

If your from NY like your profile says then why even bother. NYS does not do emissions inspection for OBD2 cars. You'll fail for the testpipe in some shops just for having it. It doesn't matter how much you lock down the throttle.

just put fill your tank 30% with gas, then right before you get there fill it up with isopropyl. It will help ya pass.

Hey just register it upnorth or in a part of your state that doesnt do emission testing.

In my state you can even register it upnorth (where there is no emission tests) AND then put down that the vehicle is being housed closer to where i live. Somehow there is a loop hole...since its registered upnorth i never get emission testing, but then i get the convience of getting my registration, plates, stickers, etc sent to my home address and not upnorth since i listed it as the place where the vehicle is "being stored"

When did you do emissions? New York hasn't done emissions testing for a while on OBD2cars. You would actually still fail emissions with the sparkplug fouler mod if it was done.
