I was back to work on the project tonight. I have quite a few hours in getting this to fit but it's pretty freaking bad ***.

I was able to make a smooth ONE piece rear tray for my RS. A LOT of work to do it. I have the template completed and it is actually underneath the car right now.

Now, here are some details.

My car is a 2004 RS. I am running the JDM EVO9 rear bumper on the car. I am also running our V-band exhaust FOR the JDM EVO9 bumper. This particular exhaust we offer puts the muffler up where the cat is suppose to be. It makes the back of the car super clean with the JDM bumper on it because there is no ugly muffler hanging down. Most aerodynamic set up to begin with as far as I am concerned.

I was able to make a once piece tray for use with this. Tomorrow I will use the template to cut the full tray out of. I think I have also come up with a way to help keep the air out from under the tray. I should be able to put a 45 degree bend in this material I am using that will fold "up" by the rear tires. If it works it should keep air from getting under the tray at the corners.

As soon as I get this rear tray done I will drive the car to the shop, get it on the lift and post pictures of the finished parts.

Then we should be able to take orders.

fixem2, thanks for the offer on the Zero Lift piece. How does it attach to the stock undertray? Any chance you can take a couple pictures of it off the car?

mrfred, I am not being a smart *** with this question, but you aren't the guy I spoke to on the phone are you? Also, keep in mind that if you are not that the EVO9 stock undertray has a wicker in front of both front tires..........

VERY interested in a rear usdm diffuser. Was thinking about doing the speed holes but they're just so hideous. So if this is a cheap alternative...

Dave

I was able to create a homemade version of a zero lift kit for my VIII.
I attached it to the stock undertray as follows.

Dave,

I noticed a neat little lineal travel sensor on Innovates web page. I will prolly get one or two to log spring compression with and without downforce aids.
You could do a before and after "dyno" with your new aero parts.
(Or I could do the tests for you, but you know where I'm heading with that.)

We tested the front undertray today on the black drag car. We already had a rear panel on the car that we made last season. We also added a short aluminum rear wing like you see on Pro Stock drag cars. The car was very very unstable before, "spookey" feeling as my brother said.

Today we ran teh car with the new rear wing and front undertray. We set a new personal best ET with it and the MPH was right there with our best ever. 8.88 at 169.4 mph. The great news is the car is so stable now it doesn't move around at all. Daniel didn't pull the parachute at the end of the first run because he said the car felt too SLOW!! He told me on the way home he's ready for a few hundred more horsepower now! haha

So it would atleast seem at this point that the undertray has some good effects on the feel of the car at high speed. The other good news is it has been tested at high speed and there were no problems what-so-ever with it coming loose. It is held on in the front with 5 dzus fasteners, in the rear with the two tie bar bolts and then there are 2 zipties in the center.

Dave,
I believe it attaches to the lip of the undertray right where it meets the front bumper/lip. I have not installed the piece and probably won't becuase I am getting a do-luck replica lip. I can post a pic of it off the car or just send it your way.

Be careful Fixem2!! If you get the do-luck replica some douche bag might jump your case for it! haha

The actual Do-luck lip, after looking at it, would not work for anything any of us here are trying to accomplish. If you can find a picture of it you will see it is designed to work with the factory undertray and goes up at the back of it, so it would not allow the new flat undertray I am building and would be in the way of our FMIC's.

I'm interested in the front undertray. Quick question though. Will we still be able to use the front tie bar with it, or will we have to eliminate it. I currently run an H-brace and don't want to lose it.
