Car is fubar.

Get a lawyer who will work on contingency.

Get a statement from the fire department.

Take statement from FD to your insurance along with the litany of troubles it has been since then. Nicely explain that the tow company F'd your car up, and it should be totaled.

If you're lucky, between the lawyer and insurance company you might get some satisfaction.

Finally, don't hold your breath.

This post definitely needs to be a bit shorter but I have wondered actually if a tow company has any duty to you not to damage your car when towing if you are parked illegally. Let's say you are parked in front of a fire hydrant and the city tows your car from two wheels. I would hate to be in a position to have to try and sue them over it. I could definitely envision the city and/or a court telling you to go f&*k yourself because you were parked illegally. Anyone have any experience with this or something similar?

I'd sue for more than the cost of the car/repairs. Time is money and all the time you spent dealing with it you should be paid for. That is how I look at it at least.

i think the right lawyer will be able to take car of you. but you need to make sure the lawyer doesnt get paid until they win and are done because if you keep feeding them money then you mine as well consider it a monthly bill for the rest of your life because he will keep charging you for petty phone calls, this and that, etc.
