I never wanted an STi because one of my good friends owns one and I couldn't get the same car. I was choosing between the Evo and the SRT-4. I test drove the SRT 4 and was not impressed. Later that day, when I test drove the first evo I ever sat in, I decided to buy it. After shopping around for TB I bought a brand new Evo IX.

I'm thinking about getting the Evo X when it comes out also to add to my 03 VIII. Of course I'll wait until the MR edition comes out this time.

Back in Oct 02 bought a 03 WRX. In March I deployed to Iraq and when I got back both the STi and Evo 8 had been released. Went to Subaru in December 03 to trade in my very low mileage WRX for an STi and they would not let me test drive one. Went to Mitsu and test drove Evo 8. I ordered my Evo and received it right before Christmas. I drove to Subaru with the Evo and parked right next to STi. Salesman came out and stated that he could get me into one as soon as possible. Of course I laughed and said he could have gotten me into it but since I couldn't test drive it I got into an Evo. I then got into the Evo and drove off. October 06 was time for a new car and you know where I went!

I was working with a budget of ~22k when I picked up my evo in may, it was just a matter of which clean example I could find first, sti or evo. I would be happy with either one.

i owned a wrx (not sti) and loved it but when it was time to upgrade, i noticed you can get more out the evo with the same money that you would put in an STI.

I'd already spent 3 years in the subaru camp and grew tired of talking about the beauty of all wheel drive & the boxer rumble. Also, You can row a boat up to 60mph quicker than you can get the 6mt up to it. Pain to work on, interior isn't quite on par with that of a luxury car as many in that camp pretend it to be.

Because for years I read about this infamous car called "The Evo" tearing up the tarmac on British and European roads - don't recall ever hearing too much about the STi???? So when they decided to bring it stateside, I was hooked

Quick steering rack, sharper handling, ease and efectiveness of tuning, and looks way better.

Handling for sure...

and the fact that I see an STI/WRX every other mile that I drive...

I do like the sound their engine makes though.

My buddy Adam took me for a ride in his EVO in 04 and I couldn't believe the how fast it was. I didn't think much about it at the time. Recently, I had been looking for an STI for months waiting for the right one. Same thing, dealer wouldn't let me drive one. I had to go to a used dealership just for the chance to drive an STI. Met another guy who had just sold his STI but had a modded EVO and races a Skyline. He took me for a ride and I loved the comfort compared to the STI. Happened to jump on Ebay and found an 06 IX with sunroof, leather etc. with 16k miles in Utah and had to jump! This car is awesome and I love it
