Why did you pick the EVO over the STi?
Every single review I read said the Evo had better performance - and that's all I care about. IMHO the looks of the Evo are better than the STI's. I test-drove an IX SE and knew there was no need to look any further. The STI may be a bit more civilized as a DD ... I say civilization is overrated. The STI is a good car, just not the car for me.
Everything i read about the two vehicles, the evo took 1st.The other thing i was sold on was it was a
and the 4G63 motor, and responsiveness to mods.
and all around just looks better

When I was considering the two in '03, I was concerned about the EJ25 being a new configuration for the Subie vs. the 4g63 in the Evo being very well developed and refined over the years. I went with the known quantity.
I also love the directness of the steering.

I bought mine because it was in F&F2. I bought it opening weekend and drove it up to the movie theater and just stood by my car and let everyone stare at me...
Not really.
I actually never even thought about getting a STI. Didn't even look at them. Ever since I heard a WRX with a exhaust on it, I couldn't stand the sound. They sound like horrible IMO.
Although, I'm definately liking the new STI. I've always loved hatchbacks and this STI is more appealing to me that any other one. I'd drive one, but I'd have to put equal length headers on it.

I've wanted one since they came to the states. Everyone around my town has a WRX or STI, but there are very few Evo's (There have since been two additions since I bought my RR VIII in March
) I wanted something different, something with a proven motor (my buddy has a DSM so I am familiar with the motor and what it is capable of), and I would always kick myself if I had the chance to finally get the Evo and got an STI instead (I actually could have gotten a modded STI for the same price....got my Evo instead and have no regrets)

i was in Aviano, Italy from 2004-2007 and never really got a chance to see an Evo in person. No one there had an Evo but there were about 3 or 4 STI's so I went with what nobody had.
i was looking at the sti first, ('06 the dealer wanted 38,995 to start), and i was doing some research on the sti to see if i really wanted to get into that financial responsibility. at barnes and noble, they had a british tuner mag with an ad for the new '06 sti. i bought that mag and took it home to read and out of the middle fell out a mitsubishi evo buyers guide/history of evos supplement. it was about 20 pages long and had all the evos in it from 1 to the ix. i read it over and over. i still couldn't decide. then i went online and found my '05 gsr baby at a lexus dealer for 26,995 with 8,000 miles on her. it was even blue like the sti! i never looked back. oh, and the first time i saw an evo was in the jackie chan movie. at the time,(1994 i think), i didn't know what kind of car he had, but the stunts it did were awe inspiring.
The sound is from unequal length headers, not the boxer itself. And I love it, the Evo exhaust note is pretty lame.
