umm... buying brand name parts off ebay isn't "building an ebay car". it's buying used parts...big deal.

build it using all these ebay snake-oil salesmen, and let us know how you fair.

I could see maybe buying an exhaust or IC piping off ebay, maybe even one of the cheap headers if you brace it well enough. The o2 housings for the most part don't seem to bad either, but as far as engine internals or turbos goes...I'd stay away. Go ask any of the popular honda boards what happens with 99% of the chinese turbos or cams. The cams like to eat the heads and the turbo's never usually last more than 500 miles. Since you have the ability to tune you might even try one of their intake pipes, but the filter and adapter I would get from some place reputable. I think it was Buschur that did the review on the ebay fmic's, so we saw how well those failed.

I think if you are going to build an ebay car then do it with all ebay parts, even OBX CAMS. Here are some links of afew ebay parts....

I lost faith in EBay not because of the "****" parts, but because of the parts that I look for, I find for excessively high prices.

I like the looks of those cam gears, but I am over budget already on my current build and have other things I would rather pay for right now

The car is 100% stock right now. I will be installing parts this weekend. I will try my best to use all "safe" ebay parts. I am more concerned with what kind of power can be made for 1000 bucks using ebay and mostly no brand parts.

very interesting...i don't think ebay's a bad place coz you can still get good deals on genuine or atleast decent parts. it's not always you buy bad parts from ebay for your car...you gotta use your head and actually be smart about what you get there anyway, you can't just be careless. like the guy said, i don't mind settling for a 25 hp gain to a genuine part that would give you 30 hp unless you're some hardcore into drag racing/auto x competitions 24/7.

I have spend 250 on an ebay exhaust and now my car is making 325whp/325wtq on 100 octane with only a drop in LICP, exhaust and a tune.
