Fuel Economy in regards to modding...

At what point do you start to lose fuel effeciency... and at what point does it drastically drop?

Does it start with certain bolt-ons? intake, TBE?
MBC?
Cams?
Upgraded turbo?

just curious..

If you want to save gas, get a tune as soon as possible. For every simple bolt-on I added, pretty much the mileage would go down. The drastic change would be once you turn up the boost from stock with the mbc (so with a bigger turbo = more boost so less mileage I think). More power usu. means more gas. However when I wanna save gas, I stay out of boost. I was getting 12 mpg for full bolt-ons but with a tune with afr of around 10.9-11.1, I now get around 18 mpg.

The key is to stay out of boost. Think about the air and fuel nearly doubling when you get on it.

The more you get on it the more gas you will use.If you take it easy than you will not burn as much gas.

I can get about 20mpg if I drive on the highway and stay completely out of boost at 65mph... However, if i drive it like it wants to be, I get about 10mpg, if that.

Yeah, it's all about how you drive.

I'm driving my stock Evo and I got all of 13 MPG this week, on 10 gallons

Then when I put in gas today, and drove slower I went 20 miles and the needle didn't even move.

Yeah man.... I got cams 4 days ago & the first day I rolled around un-tuned... the car reeked of pure gasoline. Its not as bad now, but it still is present.

Someone mention some gas mileage ideas. We have my cruising load/afrs set for 15.4. Timing about 8 degrees i believe
