$ Value of 8-9 after X release
I Think The Value Will Go Up In The Near Future Just Like Toyota Supra`s Esp For Us Guys That Have That Evo 9 Great Cars Only Made For 1 Year Just Like The 98 Quick Silver Supra!!!!
Market price for any all wheel drive turbo vehicle is going to remain above the listed KBB value.
Just look at the selling price of a 1 or 2G dsm. It doesn't matter how many newer cars are released.... the resale will still be very good. Now if you purchased new you will still take it in the shorts but thats the price of buying new.
Whether the 10 is great or crap doesn't matter because the 8/9s are very well built and capable cars.

this car currently is going up 700 dollars in value every month consistently for the past 4 months. every day when i book out the car on KBB i always seem to get a different number. I have a different kbb system as the one the majority of you guys have online. its something called karpower. you can expect evo's to be rediculously priced after the X comes out. If it doesnt you guys are more than welcome to kick me in the nuts......
I dont think it will drop the values, I think we will see a lot of wealthy owners hitting our forums soon. I know there are already are some here. But mitsubishi is looking to attract m3 buyers and they are going to...We may see more aftermarket support and consequenlty lower prices.
You can't really say the X is a poor performing car, just not as good as expected. I don't think the X will have much effect on used 8-9 Evos in the long run because they are just too different. People who will want to get a 8 or 9 in five or ten years will not want to get the X and vice versa. Its like comparing the E30 M3 to the E39 M3.
if anybody would take into account the fact that the Evo X will have an aluminum block, they would know that the evo X will physically not be able to take up to 1400 HP as some 4g63's have seen. theres no way the 4b11 will be able to withstand the insane amount of beatings the 4g63 is able to take. I think the price will stay the same for current evos, but depending what the people want when purchasing a X, the price might increase because of all the people who would want to mod it and end up disappointed with a busted motor. as for handling, the X is outstanding and handles better than current evo's. personally, i think the evo X will be somewhat of a disappointment to its owners who want a faster car.
I see this also being in the car business myself. I think 10 years from now.. those of us that have kept are cars clean, will get alot when we sell them.. allthough I am never selling mine.
well after the MT test and with mitsu planning to flood the market with the x, the viii/ix has nothing to worry about. there are gonna be so manny evo x left on the lot mitsu gonna offer incentives like crazy just to move them.
I would imagine....purely speculation, that the prices are going to go down for a while, then level off and stay strong.
Everyone is going to want an X, whether it be fanboys or newcomers.
The fact of the matter is, once they realize that the Evo X is a great car, but not as sharp as the 9, the 8/9 will become more valuable to folks like us. Thats what I think, but you never know.

"Though the X may be more proper and polished when it speaks to you, the IX tells better stories" i like that one! stoked to see the X on the road.. not gunna make any judgements til my own eyes see the proof.
My prediction is that whether stock or slightly modded....relatively low miles....in like 10-15 years the 8/9 will be deemed a collectors item.
considering that maybe only 15K or so VIII's came to the US and only 9K or so IX's came....factoring out how many are wrecked and will be wrecked I bet these cars will turn out to hold value okay.
How cool will it be to have an original evo before it went mainstream in 15-20 years when cars then may not even use regular gas anymore.....who knows what cars will be like then.....my plan is never to get rid of mine if I can help it....hopefully within the next year or so to even be able to garage it for most of its future existence under my ownership
