The X appears to have been designed to appeal to a broader market segment and might not have been engineered well enough to modify to the extent of previous Evos.

If Mitsubishi does not support the aftermarket community in this respect, then the value of 8 & 9's will eventually appreciate once this become apparent to the tuning community. This is of course relative to the original cost of our cars (bargain performance) and the number of kids totaling/trashing them. It already has one of the slowest rates of depreciation.

Even if the X is a wild success, we will see a slowing of depreciation of the 8/9 due to the simple fact that they are becoming more affordable to younger drivers. Younger drivers total cars more frequently. As stated earlier... Less supply= increased demand.

Don't expect your Evo to be worth 30K in 10 years, but do expect it to level off. Perhaps 10-15K for well cared for cars.

The price of EVO 8-9 will stay the same for about 5-9 months then it will start to drop off slowly.

 

Wow. How old are you? What is your idea of how an Evo looks like? Just the CT9A Evos? Do you realize how different the CT9A Evos look like from CP9A Evos?

 

No matter what the car will slowly decrease in value over the years to come...in reality its a sport-compact 4-door car that offers nothing special to the general public. Once it becomes a "hard-to-find/buy" for enthusiasts later down the road, the price will level off and possibly start to climb back up. But I dont plan on selling or trading mine in for anything anyways so I dont know why I even bothered with this thread

 

im not thinking of selling either, its just knowing the value down the road that I want, also my car an 05 GG MR only 250 produced plus who knows how many crashed, think about it not too many left for my year and color, i really think the value should slowly rise

 

everyone should keep their evos. With all the crashes killing off so many I bet they'll be hard to get a hold of a few years from now. Maybe.

What about the values of clean low mileage Grand Nationals, GM Ty/Sys, TT Supras, RX7s, etc? I imagine the EVOs will be grouped in the same category. In 10-15 years, clean stock cars could fetch quite a bit of cash.

 

It depends if that "something" is something desirable. The only way you can probably increase the value of your car is to stop driving it from now on, safely store it away and sell it a few years from now to some collector. For vehicles like the Evolution, there will always be a collector somewhere out there.

However, the more miles you put on your Evo, the lower in monetary value it gets. Everyone who researches about Evolutions before buying one knows well not to buy one with a considerable amount of mileage.

Given that, we have a low demand and high supply for "Evos with high mileage" causing its value to lower. Just look at countries where more previous generations of Evolutions were available.

 

Mitsu sales hit the skids this December. Down 40%. Total 2007 sales were 128,993, up slightly from a dismal 2006 but still very poor:
