Yet another HID thread

so I've been searching without any success.

My 03 Headlights are so oxidized that they light up yellow. What Im asking is how much are the OEM HID & parts worth to you guys. The lights are ugly/faded/oxidized. The HID are in perfect working condition. What do I have to remove in order to part them out? I know a lot of Non-HID guys want the factory HIDS.

Also If I buy RS or Non HID lights what will I have to do in order to run them on my 8? I would get an after market HID kit, but wiring them to the factory HID wiring is what im scared of.

My flame suit is on- but I would appreciate some knowledgeable info.

there are some things available like really fine grit sand paper that you can use on them to remove some of the nastiness build up

Sounds like your problem is with the plastic covers on your headlights. I think Mothers makes a product for that. I've used rubbing compound in the past.
Changing out your actual lights isn't going to do anything for you.

well if you said meguirs didnt work ide say there isnt much hope in other similar products but i heard before that you can simply use WD-40. Idk worth a try huh

As for me, ide be afraid to use sand paper but then again they do make some really soft stuff, almost not even abrasive so maybe it is safe

Yes - sandpaper works. I had a 97 Mustang Cobra (if you know ANYTHING about 'stangs you know their headlights cloud up).

Wet sand them starting at 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500. I think I started a bit lower in grit actually, but it is probably not necessary. My headlights were completely destroyed beyond hope.

Use the turtle wax scratch remover and then in addition use Meguier's Plastx. I did the two polishing compounds with an orbital buffer and the headlights look brand new. They looked pretty good with the turtle wax polish, but the Meguier's Plastx made them look brand new.

The kit they sell actually has all these products, minus the turtle wax scratch remover. You can buy the stuff on your own separately for cheaper, though.

Good luck! - You've got nothing to loose in trying...and if done right you'll be very happy!

Okay - I looked it up on an old Mustang site I used to hang out at...
