evo problem on the highway

alright so i was on the highway last night and i experienced something pretty wierd. I was in 3rd gear on the on ramp and i decided to give it a nice pull and when i got to about 5300-5500 rpms the car like jumped real quick or it acted like the rpms hit a wall or something, so i let off. Then i tryed it in 4th gear adn the same thing happened at the same rpm. Felt maybe like it was fuel cut but that seems like it would be wayyy to early. Mods are a turboback exhaust untuned. Maybe a tune would help but i wanted to know if anybody has experienced this before.

I have never had this problem, and I have an intercooler and cat-back exhaust untuned.
