this is for USDM only...

03 - one version only. 5spd, intercooler sprayer, 16g6 9.8th turbo, no helical lsd, no acd, open diff
bby, red, yellow, silver, black, white

04 - same as 03 except RS version is released with helical lsd
RS- only red and white - no power windows, no a/c, no radio,(power windows, a/c, radio, abs, wing was optional for this model) aluminum roof, helical lsd, no wing, no abs, no acd

note: not sure when the SSL package was introduced. for some reason, i believe it was 04, but correct me if i am wrong. i know it definitely was not in 03 though.

05 - 3 versions: MR, RS, standard...all versions come with 16g6 10.5cm^2 th and helical lsd, ACD. no bby color, new electric blue color comes out, new graphite gray color comes out. no intercooler sprayer from this year out.
RS- same as 04 with exception of turbo, lsd, and the new acd
MR - 6spd, gauges standard (not optional like standard and RS), bilstien suspension, bbs wheels, aluminum roof (RS and MR has no sunroof option), black vortex generator, acd, helical lsd
standard - same as 03/04 with exception of turbo, lsd, and the new acd

06 - mivec engine 16g6 10.5th w/upgrade compressor housing and wheel. new body styling (front bumper, undertray, badging..lights..etc) wing - fully painted except for deck. (03-05 had only the outward sides painted)
MR - same as 05 with exception of mivec, turbo, and has colored vortex generators
RS - same as same as 05 with exception of mivec, turbo, and a different tranny
standard - same as same as 05 with exception of mivec, turbo, and a different tranny

now these are all the differences in years and models. if i had forgotten something or placed wrong info for a model year(s) or model(s), please let me know

different year - different maps, different ecu, minor overall operation differences (a/c, boost, etc)
same year - minor differences in overall operation depending on date manufactured

 

Another thing that I don't understand is how some people say that the the '03 EVOs do not have a front limited slip differential. Now, you guys are saying that the '03 EVOs have a differential but not a limited slip, right? If so, I can understand that. I was just wondering because there is NO way a car can turn without breaking something if it does not come with a differential.

 

Yes, I said that early on - the 04 RS did get the FLSD, but it's the only 04 version to get it.

03/04s have an open front diff, but it's not a limited slip diff (LSD).

really? i suppose you do have an 04 rs..maybe it was optionally installed? i've just never heard of any RSs with a/c. cool anyways..but i still don't believe they came with a/c. i know it was an option though

Dude, enough typing like a little kid on MySpace or whatever. "n" is not a word and can stand for many things. Anyway, RSs do have A/C, and no Evo has ever come with a 20g. I can't believe people still think that...

 

You mean A/C was optional, correct? I'm pretty sure it didn't come standard in the RS models.

anyway 03-05 are identical. nothing difference. ACD was introduce on 05 evos and up, Also 10.5T hotside. the SSL package introduce in on 05 as well and this is the only package that include HID. Yellow was removed in 05. My evo is yellow and it's an 04. bought it in Sept. 2004. god love the internet FKTARD

 

I'm sorry, if you mean that only the SSL package included HID, you are wrong. If I am misunderstanding you, sorry. But, 03-04-05 standard & MR models all had HID as standard. All model year RSs didn't. 06, HIDs were not standard except for the MR model. Some came with HID and some didn't.
