Sorry for bringing this thread back... i know how everyone hates it
but i .... CHANGED MY OIL!! SUCCESSFULLY!!!

AND I GOT ONTO THE RHINO RAMP!!!

I used a pipe and bought an oil filter wrench and it worked great

The only issue i had was taking the old washer off.

That is all... and thank you for all the advice and other comments....

PS: I didnt even have to use my purse to unscrew the bolt.... score one for me

I just had my oil change in my Evo at 33.3K miles! It's not suppose to be changed until 34K but I rather do it now and good thing I did because the oil in there is like black! It took me about 45 min to an hour bc I thought I had to remove the front diffuser. Found out later that I just have to jack the passenger side up and it's all there!!! At first I had a hard time to remove it either but I use a longer wrench with a little muscle... I would say, get a hollow pipe about an arm length and it will be a lot easier my friend.

fused. And mine is like that also. bought another washer for $1.33 at the dealer and can't find it. Probably going to buy a new bolt and washer again and call it a day.

Change it every time and loosen it with a putty knife.

Strap wrenches suck. If you were really cool you wouldn't need a breaker bar because you would have a torque wrench. Then you could put the pan bolt back in to the proper tq spec so it wouldn't be so hard to get out next time, and you could put the filter on to the proper spec so that you didn't lose it or strip the housing.

Don't use a hammer to hit the wrench, thats just asking for a stripped bolt or a hole in a place you don't want it. Also don't use an adjustable, please get the right socket size. Doing 3 of your own oil changes can pay for the tq wrench, cap style filter wrench, and correct socket.

Its just and oil change, but its also just the lifeblood of a $30k car
