Failed 1st oil change

I fail! I FAIL HARD! *sigh*

Anyone ever had a problem removing the bolt off the oil pan? I tried a good 45 minutes and the dam thing wouldnt budge.

This is the first time that the Evo was going to get an oil change... and i was happy because i finally get to fill it with AMSOIL that i had sitting around for a month+.

Now my right hand is blistering and im a little aggrovated because the dam bolt refuses to come off! Stupid craftsman and their crappy handles.

What was i doing wrong?! (yes i was turning it the right way; how do i know? because i tried both ways)

Any tips before i try again?

Make fun of me all you want; I deserve it.

get a 30 ft breaker bar and that will either remove the bolt or break it

remember...lefty loosey(counterclockwise)...righty tighty(clockwise)

in other words...turn it to the left to loosen it...turn it to the right to tighten it

if still can not do it then get someone stronger to help...or put a small pipe around the end of the wrench for more leverage

I would extend the hand to act like a cheater bar and then lightly tap the end with a hammer, the slight shock plus the leverage might crack it free without hurting it. Tap very lightly!!

Make sure not to strip the head of the bolt.

A breaker bar is a good idea, but if you're turning it the wrong way then you'll strip the head.

If you don't have a breaker bar use a 1/2" (or larger) ratchet and slip a decent length of steel pipe at the end of the ratchet to give you some more leverage.

You can always use an impact wrench.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Good luck.

Turn it in the loosen direction instead of the tighten direction.

i was turning it counter clockwise most of the time (I knew i was right!).
I tried to find a small pipe thats not in my dad's old shed but i couldnt find one. I dont want to go in the shed; ITS FULL OF SPIDERS... mainly Black Widows. Sorry i really hate spiders!

Dam i was using 3/8", guess i gotta go buy 1/2" and pipe or a breaker bar.
Prob a pipe so i can beat the dam oil pan if it refuses to open again!

So many repsonses so quick... Thank you everyone

PS. Rhino Ramps are scary to get up onto; especially when its the first time using them. I quit after i went half way up and used jacks instead.
