I would highly recommend these cam/cams to you. Are you running an VIII or a IX??
I have a VIII. I think if I go with a 280 intake cam, that is possibly where I may suffer the idle characteristics.

i wouldnt take the owners word on the tune or the mods at all. its a used evo he coulda threw it back to stock with a more aggressive tune involving bigger injectors/turbo and who knows. Word from the wise. Get a safer retune.

The Injen Catless TBE is extreamly quiet. I love mine it keeps the cops away. Ill take the couple HP loss for the muffler neck down as my car still makes 350whp with it.

As others have said man your car is making great power but is a time bomb. You keep running that thing that lean at 25 psi and its going to pop sooner than later

Even took the rally cat off and threw in the stocker, NOPE, still louder. It is the quietest true 3" catback but it is still loud as *****. Sounds mean when you step on it too. All the guys on SoCalEvo that said it is just like stock are all on crack!!! I hate noise and if I drove my Evo every day, I would have pulled the RRE off already and sold it.

And to the OP, if you were really running on pump gas with 25 lbs of boost and 13+:1 afr, unless you had negative timing throughout the entire power band, I don't expect your car to last too long. In fact, it may already be on it's last leg.
DO you have an exhuast leak.

I have RRE Stealth Turbo back, and I really don't think it is loader then stock. My wife hasn't even noticed the difference, and she is sensitive to that kind of stuff. Its Even quite when I floor it.

Take your time in choosing a set of cams and mapping out your overall upgrade path. Nothing worse than spending $$ on a component only to upgrade it again down the road...

I ran HKS 272 cams on my stock Evo 8 turbo (2003, so it had the smaller 9.8 hotside) and didn't feel the need to go larger. Now with a bigger turbo on my car, I feel like the HKS 280s I have on there aren't quite enough.

However, there is no doubt that between an exhaust and a good set of cams, your car will pickup a good chunk of power.
